Access 2000 crashing...

I'm using Access 2000 on a Dell PC with 256MB of RAM, and it freezes
up almost immediately after opening the database. The database is on an
internet server, but no-one else who connects notices any problems,
it's only on this PC.Actually its a refurbished PC, the original
Dell(same model) worked perfectly. But now as stated, upon opening the
DB, or opening a table/query/report in print preview it freezes up for
a couple of minutes. Then when I try to scroll down it freezes up
again. I can eventually work with it, but it takes half an hour to do
what should take only minutes.

Any suggestions? I've compacted and repaired, relinked tables, and even
tried Access 2003 trial edition with no improvement.

Thanks,

Stumped.

I will try to be as descriptive as possible, but this error has me stumped and I am not sure what relevant info to include.... I am running Access XP on a Windows XP machine. I initially began developing an app in Access 2000 but converted it several months ago to XP. So the app is now Access XP format also. My app is crashing on a regular basis, with the totally non-descript Microsoft error (Microsoft Access has encountered a...

I have a fairly large Access application that ran correctly in Access 2000. After upgrading to Access 2003 (and recompiling and updating references), it reliably crashes at a certain point. If I step through the VBA code, the crash does not occur. What is different about stepping through code instead of just running it? Any idea how to find the cause? I know about where it happens, but since it is Access itself crashing, finding a...

I have an Access database that I have been using for over a year. My company just replaced my computer with a "New and Improved" computer, and they also installed Access 2002 ( I was using 2000). The problem that I am having is that the program crashes when it goes to run some of the VBA code that hasn't been changed and was working for the past year. Most of my VBA code has to do with DLookup. Is there some problem (other than speed)...

Hi, Ive got 3 forms, (a subform within a subform within a form) and when I refresh the outermost form, Access closes and offers to send an error report. The forms worked fine a few weeks ago, but now they cause this error in Access 2002 (Access 2000 is fine) Each of the sub forms use values from their parent forms to produce results.

Host PC: Win SBS 2003 with 2.6 GHz processor and 1GB RAM SQL Server 2000 sp3 (or latest).MS Office 2k3 I have the access 2k3 front end running on server (this may get changed) and all was well until an upgrade 1 week ago when I installed a new version of the mde (with very minor changes) and a new VB application via a VB6 installer setup.exe. Access uses odbc to linked tables on SQL Server, plus a few local tables.

Hi. I have a client who has been running my Access 2000 system for a while now (about a year and a half) and is suddenly encountering lots of problems... as in misc. fatal errors that shut the database down. Hard drive space looks good (I think): about 3 GB of about 8 GB free RAM: 316 MB O/S: Win XP Home Edition SR-1 Access 2000 service pack 1, I think

Hi there, I've converted an Access 97 front end to Access 2000, but when I try to run a VBA DoCmd.OpenReport (e.g. DoCmd.OpenReport "rpt_programme_listing") line, Access completely crashes ("Microsoft Access for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."). The reports themselves run fine when I double-click on them - it's only when I try to run them through code (including in the...

Hi, I have a database that I created in Access 97 and then converted to 2000. Its running along but after looking here I believe more by good luck than good management. I do not know any code and have created it by looking at how Northwind works. My problem is that I've been asked to set it up for more users (4 or 5). I gather I need to split it into front end/back end and put the data (back

Hi We need some advice: We are thinking of upgrading our Access database from Access 2000 to Access 2004. How stable is MS Office 2003? (particularly Access 2003). We are just a small company and this is a big decision for us(!) It's not just the money it's committing to an new version of Access!

My database was developed and is currently running in Access 2000. I am contemplating upgrading to the latest version of Access (2003?) running on new computers. Will there be any major problems running a 2000 db in 2003? My only reason for upgrading is because the MS Office 2000 Professional disks got lost in our office move, otherwise I would install 2000 onto the new machines.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
