error accessing file. network connection may have been lost

I am suddenly getting this message. It happens during code executed
from a form module that calls a function stored in a standard module.
I am working on a standalone pc with no network connection to
anything. After this message, access closes. Then when I go back,
all the module have been deleted from the form.\

MS error reporting sends me to a web page that says there isn't a fix
for the problem and that I should get Access 2003 (I am using access
2000)

So far I have avoided this happening repeatedly by sticking all the
procedures and functions directly in the form module.

What the hell is this?

An early release of Access 2000 had a very nasty issue like that, but this
horrid bug was fixed. If your issue is related to this, you need to download
your updates for Office 2000:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=304548

If this is not your issue, you can probably solve it by turning off Name
AutoCorrect and decompiling. Then use only Access 2000 to make any changes.
If you have multiple users with different versions, split the application.

For info on the Name AutoCorrect problems, see:
Failures caused by Name Auto-Correct
at:

To decompile, enter something like this at the command prompt while Access
is not running. It is all one line, and include the quotes:
"c:\Program Files\Microsoft office\office\m saccess.exe" /decompile
"c:\MyPath\MyDa tabase.mdb"

For info on splitting, see:

Was wondering if someone could help. Over the last month I've been developing a small database application, using Access 2000, for use in a friends shop. Everything was going well until about a week ago when I started getting the following error when I would click any buttons on my main form that ran either VB code or an Access Macro: "Error accessing file. Network connection may have been lost.". I know for sure it's not a network...

Hello, I don't understand this error message." Error accessing File. Network Connection may have been lost." I'm not using any network connection for the database. In the VBA editor is goes to "Private Sub Form_DblClick(Cancel As Integer)". I have been making a bunch of changes and I'm sure I have done something to corrupt this mdb but I don't know where to start of this one. I hope there is help for me...

I have no idea what is going on. I have a Login screen where someone types in their login information and this populates a datagrid based off of the login. Works great in debug and test through VS, however, when I change to release and put it out on the web it fails giving me the following error message The underlying connection was closed. Could not establish a trust relationship with the remote server.

Help!!! I have been developing an application, and suddenly, whenever I try adding data, or adding a control to a form, I get the above message. I have tried moving the file from our server to the local machine, and also loading it from another machine, but to no avail. If I try and add data to a form, or click on a button on a form, the error message pops up and the VBA screen opens with the cursor at

I was trying to update my program and "imported" a file over the network into the program (not a virus or other problem as it came from another computer in the network). Since doing this the recieving program has been corrupted. All references to code in the program, when called, do not work and this error message is presented: "error accessing file. network connection may have been lost." I cannot figure out how this could have corrupted...

Hi I'm implementing a really simple access DB on a server. Every once in a while, an error will occur that appears to cause an unrecoverable flaw in the program code. This error crashes the DB. It deactivates control buttons and does not allow me to add new controls to existing forms. I'm getting the message: "error accessing file. Network connection may have been lost" i've tried compacting the DB and still no luck. This has been...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
