by Jacob Cynamon
=============== =============== =============== =============== ========
Microsoft Office is more than a killer productivity suite. Pair it with
development tools and it's a full-fledged SmartClient platform. This
session provides a great introduction to Visual Studio 2005 Tools for
Office, where you'll see how code and the object model are more tightly
integrated between Visual Studio and Office documents than ever before.
We'll explore the wide variety of solution techniques, including data
binding, using the actions pane, and writing managed add-ins for
Outlook. Plus you'll see great new features such as data caching and
server-side access to data in documents.

Session Overview:
* How code and the object model are tightly integrated between Visual
Studio and Office documents
* Solution techniques including data binding, the actions pane and
managed add-ins for Outlook
* New features such as data caching and server-side access to data in
documents

FREE Not For Resale copy of VSTO 2005 for Office to be raffled off
after the presentation!

About Jacob Cynamon
Got a puzzle, problem or project that's testing your nerves? Bring it
on, says Jacob, who loves collaborating with customers and fellow
developers to solve even the most teeth-grinding challenges. Jacob
joined Microsoft in 2003 as a Developer Evangelist in the Industry
Solutions group and became a DCC shortly thereafter. Jacob is a
self-proclaimed C# developer, but dabbles in other languages, from VB
..NET and C++ to the more esoteric tongues, including Scheme and Pascal.
His favorite development project? Working with a coding team to
develop a wedding photographer robot, which ultimately became part of
the Emerging Technology event at SIGGRAPH 2002. In his downtime, Jacob
co-produced a film short that was aired at the 2003 St. Louis
Filmmakers Showcase and earned him recognition on the (somewhat)
exclusive IMDB.com.

I read an article by, by Mike Groh, in Access-VB-SQL Advisor Magazine, Week 37 that concerns me quite a bit on distributing Access Applications commercially. First I need to describe a "commercial version" of my application that I hope to distribute after completing all the beta testing: A. It was developed using MS AccessXP Pro (developers edition), B. It has a front end MyApplication.mdb and a MyAppBbackend_be.mde; the front end is...

Hi to all! A customer of mine told me some days ago that her IT-people told her ACCESS would not be such a good idea for continuing with our project, because Access will not be continued in the future. I haven't heard of this. Does anybody know more about it? The IT-People usually prefer Oracle. If they really want to go in this direction, could our Access-application (if continued) be used as a front end with an Oracle back end? Does...

Ok I have searched the MS website for info on this. I am totally confused. If I want to deploy an Access 2003 app and allow my users to run it using Access 2003 Runtime, where do I get the Runtime? I just purchased Office 2003 Professional. Is Access 2003 Runtime included with that or not? It APPEARS that the only way I can get Access 2003 Runtime is to

Hello folks, Would love yo get all informed opinions and/or facts on the following: Over the last few weeks I have spent quite a bit of time reviewing all the Access and .NET stuff I could find on Microsoft.com. It's seems harder and harder to find much of anything about Access as a primary development platform. I am getting the uneasy feeling that Microsoft is slowly phasing out Access.

I'm in a bit of a pickle. My employer, a health insurance firm, had me design a small database to track benefit issues. The intended users were technical specialists and some managers (about 90 people, no more than 10 concurrent users at any one time) all of which had Access 97 loaded on their machines. Everything was going smoothly, and I delivered them their VBA application that does everything they initially wanted it to. However,...

We have an Access 2000 MDB with a SQL 7 back end. We are upgrading SQL Server to SQL 2005, and are considering upgrading to Access 2003. Someone mentioned that they had heard about some incompatibilities between Access 2003 and SQL Server 2005. Anyone hear of anything? And, if so, would staying with Access 2000 be better? Thanks! Neil

I'm confused about what is necessary to distribute an Access 2003 application to people that don't have MS Access (or don't have the right version) installed on their PCs. I have done some research on the MS website, as well as on this newsgroup, and have never found a clear explanation of what is required. I have written an application that I would like to sell, but if I can only sell to those with access to Access (sorry, couldn't...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
