ER diagramming wish list: send a request to Microsoft

DFS
MS has made many, many $millions selling Access as part of Office Pro.
There's no excuse for it not to have a better ER diagramming component, so
that when you talk to clients or work with other IT people you have
something more than the amateurish model currently produced.

Those interested should send a request to su*****@microso ft.com and ask them
to include some of the Visio ER diagramming features in Access (download
189mb Visio trial at
http://www.microsoft.com/office/visi...nfo/trial.mspx)

It shouldn't be a big job for them to integrate the Visio code into Access -
they already own it.

I'd like to see:

1) a fit to screen option
2) options for straight and right-angle connectors
3) a separate column to show primary keys, foreign keys and indexes
4) option to show datatype and size

Thanks

The few times that I really needed it, I upsized the db to SQL Server

For Access, multiple diagrams (of part of the tables) is high on my
list. I'd say it's a "Hall of Shame" issue that they haven't built
that yet.

Hello All, I am creating a visual programming environment for python (similar to Matlab's simulink, but for python). For several reasons I have decided not to go with OGL. I am writing a wxOGL replacement library for wxPython. My first thought was to create an exact drop in replacement for OGL, but the more I look at the OGL api the more I hesitate to do it.

I am looking for diagramming software that has an API. I need to dynamically generate and update legal entity organization charts, and I definately don't want to create something from scratch. Any suggestions? Does anyone have experience with MS Visio in this context? Thanks, Johnny Meredith

I have a web page I need to post a file plus some other fields to it. How can I do this from a asp.net page. I know I can send individual fields to the other page, but how do I send a file to the other page, or is there something else like a stream which will be like a file. I am attempting to get a way from writing out a file and then having to give the page that I am posting to the file name. Instead I would like to just from asp.net...

I'm looking for a .NET diagramming component to draw process flowsheets in a WinForms app. My first idea was to use the Visio ActiveX drawing control, which has proven to be kludgy at best. I've also looked at two purely .NET components, Syncfusion's Essential Diagram and Northwoods GoDiagram. Syncfusion's is very buggy and its "custom symbols" are rather cumbersome to design. Northwoods seems to be my choice so far, but I'm wondering if...

Hi I need to make script that creates drop-down list from text file (new line in text file – new line in drop-down list). Somebody told me that I should use Ajax and XMLHttpRequest for that, so I have found on internet script that can write content from text file on screen, but I don’t know how to modify it to write it in drop-down list. How to add reference.value to make values for drop-down? This is it: <html> <head>

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
