MLH
Is it not in the access directory?

After some basic research, I am still somewhat unclear on how Access would be used in a workgroup setting. Basically, we want to run 10 MS Access clients to access an MS Access database on a standalone PC running Windows XP Pro. Do we need SQL server or some other application running on this "server"? We need to have 1) multiple people accessing the database simultaneous (should be no concerns about who saves first)

I have an Access 97 secured database which I designed myself. I have the workgroup file and I have been both been trying to access it using a custom shortcut--which I updated to reflect the current filepaths of both the database and workgroup file--and I also tried just manually joining the workgrup file and double-clicking the aplication. I was successful at "joining" the workgroup file. I keep getting 'You Don't Have the Necessary...

Hi, I secured a database a while back using the User-Level Security Wizard. During this process I created a new workgroup file, modified the Admins group by adding a new administrator and removing the original Admin account etc. Users opened up the database using a shortcut which pointed to the new workgroup file. Everything worked out fine. Now I wish to create a new database, with new database objects and apply the same security to...

When you open the Access 97 wrkgadm.exe, should it show the workgroup that you are currently using? When I join a workgroup, then close and reopen the workgroup administrator, it always displays system.mdw. Thanks.

When you go to "MyComputer" and get properties and select "Computer Name", you get the Domain or Workgroup a computer belongs to. I have looked thru MSDN library, the Internet, the Registry and in all files on my computer and cannot find how to retrieve this information in VB.Net 2005. This information is essential for our system implementation. I have tried: NetworkInformation.IPGlobalProperties.GetIPGlobalProperties but it does not...

Hi All I am new to working with Access workgroup files and have a question. I joined a new access workgroup (one which was already created by a previous access developer) via the access Tools - Security - Workgroup Administrator option. Now I get the log on screen for every access db I open.

Hi, We have an inhouse developed VB.NET Windows application which runs successfully only when the user is given a local administrator rights. Without which, it fails to start. There isn't anything reported on the event viewer. Giving the user full access to C:\ drive also doesn't do the trick. Unfortunately, we do not have the code of this application and hence cannot view what the application is trying to access. Note that we have both...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
