How do I leave an Access Workgroup file?

Hi All

I am new to working with Access workgroup files and have a question.

I joined a new access workgroup (one which was already created by a
previous access developer) via the access Tools - Security - Workgroup
Administrator option.

Now I get the log on screen for every access db I open.

My question is, how do I leave the workgroup and go back to the normal
'no logon screen' option?

Many Thanks in advance.

Use that same utility to re-join the default workgroup file (System.mdw).
Its location can vary but if you do a search for it you should find it.

I have a database that I thought had fairly tight security applied to it. It's in Access97. I'm running it also on a couple of machines that shipped with Access 2002. This is probably not a good idea, but to avoid rewriting the application I put A97 on the new machines and setup my usual wrkgadm.exe to the .mdw that everyone else was using. However when a user opens Access 2002 it wipes out the directive to the .mdw and they can then open...

Hi, I have a problem in getting Access 2002 to read my workgroup file. I've created different groups and users and when the db is opened the user is prompted to enter a username and password which seems to be working perfectly on my PC. However, when someone else on a different computer opens this db on the shared network the user is no longer asked to enter their username and password and they are logged on as the default admin user.

A user is complaining that Access Dbs on her PC asks her to type in a username and password whenever she opens an Access Db. The username that appears in the username box is the same as her network username. No password actually works to open any DB. I've also logged in to that pc using the Admin account and get the same problem. She does not not have this problem (i.e. opening the same Db) on another pc. The Db in question is NOT...

I had a useracct called xxx123 I had set up. Now there is a problem in that **every single** .mdb file I open now on my PC (regardless of age of the file, location of the file, etc) now asks for that ID and password. So I concluded there was some system file somewhere on my PC that contained some userid/password info that was set up through Tools/Security. (Obviously I did not configure the security correctly...you don't need to scold me...

With A2003, I'm having trouble accessing files in a folder on another computer where back-end files, update files, etc are located. Here's the scenario: 1) Computer #1 - A2003 2) Computer #2 - Access 2000; folder with back-ends for both computers and 'Update' folder. I have a launcher program that launces my application (MyApp). The launcher program also checks for updates to MyApp located in 'Update' folder (on

I am sorry if this is the wrong group to ask, if so please point me in the correct direction. My problem is I have an MDB file with user-level security on it (mdw). When i move it over to a system that has Access 2007 and try to open it, I get a user name and password prompt. The admin username and password from the other system doesn't work. Is there anything special I need to do? If I could I would actually love to remove this...

Existing Access Database Troubleshooting I am new to access database and inherited an access application and all users who were previously able to use this access file simulataneously are now locked out exclusively . Some have not been able to get on at all. Obviously, this is the problem, and as far as I know, no changes have been made to access backend or front end. I have no historical data as to whether or not the access db was...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
