You may have already had this question: I want to link my
laptop to my cell phone and connect to a dial up ISP. The
laptop to cell phone link is already commercially
available, but for another use. The problem is the laptop
modem wants a dial tone to begin communication. Is there
a driver or a program to allow communication with the ISP
via a cell phone?
This idea came to me while sitting in an airport waiting
for a data port.

I have a Windows Service that I created using Visual Studio.NET 2003. No
custom code, just an empty Windows Service.
In VS.NET, I right click on the service, and say "Add Installer", to create
a custom installer for it inside my project. No custom code, just an empty
installer as generated by VS.NET.
I then create a Deployment project, and set the "custom action" for each of
the steps to run the installer found in the Windows Service...

Can I develop cell phone apps with VB .NET?
What would you suggest as a target phone for testing, and would I need any other special equipment?
Are there any good books for developing for this platform?

I'm using Visual Studio 2005 and I have built an msi using the built in
setup project. My application installs fine, but on install the
application itself runs a few configuration scripts which alter the
original contents of the directory. The next time you start the
application by clicking the shortcut the MSI automatically tries to
repair/restore the install back to the out of the box configuration.
Any idea how to turn this feature...

I have a client who wants to be able to automatically send a text
message to a cell phone after a user submits a form with a valid cell
phone number. Is this possible? Which websites provide this service, if
any? Is there an api for it?

Hi, all! I have a question.
I am designing a listing similar to a phone book in HTML. Each listing has
periods following it, but they must extend to the end of the table cell, and
not wrap.
Is there any way to prevent the text from 1) wrapping within the table cell
and 2) causing the table cell to expand? In other words, the filler periods
must flow past the right boundary of the cell (but not be seen). Similar to:

New discovery.
If I take a perfectly good database, and "compact/repair" on it with Access
2000 (seems to be at multiple sites--I've tried it with my system here, at
another office on an entirely different network), it damages the file
somehow. The user's machine that did the compact/repair can see the file
fine. But any networked user can't get in. I can double click on a good
database file from any user (over the network) and it...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
