I am in the process of finishing up moderate sized access database
application. I am in the process now of building a switchboard to
house all the forms and reports. I decided the in built in switchboard
manager will not do what I want so I was thinking of just buiding my
own form.
However, I was wondering is there any prebuilt switchboards or
switchboard templates out there?
I found one that I like http://www.aadconsulting.com/swbds.html
however I am not certain the client will be able to easily register the
required activex controls.
Is there anything out there already built that I can download or buy?
I think my problem is not really programing as I built a killer
application with tons of vb code, I think my problme is more in not
being able to decide how to lay it out. Anyone know of sites that show
the use of good switchboards design or provide a template that I can
buy? 2 13957
I create my own switchboards, using unbound Forms and CommandButtons. It's
simpler, and (IMNSHO) even easier, than creating one with the Switchboard
Manager. You can use other kinds of controls, if needed to specify criteria
or such, as well as command buttons.
(Again IMNSHO,) I consider the Switchboard Manager a complex solution to a
simple problem, and judging from the number of posts about it, many users do
not find it trivially easy, either.

Before you settle on a "dumb" switchboard, consider this: the switchboard,
or Home Form, is the most valuable piece of real estate in your app. It is
the one place where your users will always go - sort of like the Windows
Desktop. So why not make your Home Form a dynamic place to start your app?
Every time users open my app, they see the Home Form - where they see two
listboxes. One is a listbox of their current caseload (parolees), another
of their pending investigations. They are able to do a quick look at their
data - sort of a to-do list, and make small edits through a simple pop-up
form - mark investigations as completed, change the Notes section for an
offender - real basic stuff, but the kind of stuff that they do often, and
don't need to bring up the whole file for. Saves them time; saves server
load.

I've written an application which is intended to act as a code sample
"how to code applications with a well designed GUI". Since this code is
intended to also act as a sample for beginners it should not contain any
quirks or unusual constructs or be misleading or else. It should be as
clean and as readable as possible. It simple should be how you would
code.
I therefore ask for a public code review. Just criticize, make
annotations,...

Could somebody please point me to some sample xerces c++ code that
creates an XML document with a schema.
I have been able to find plenty of dtd examples, but no schema
examples.
What am I supposed to do -- call createDocument with a NULL DocType,
add then call setAttribute on the root node for the attributes
(xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" and
xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="foo.xsd" )?

Hi:
I know there are mixed views about the switchboard function, but i would like to consider
using it anyway. One snag I have found is that you create a Main Switchboard, and put some
headings in it, then insert some switching lines some of which go to lower level boards.
The lower level boards pu\ick up the same headings as the main board! I would like to have
headings such as:
Main menu
Client Menu
Associates Menu

I am trying to create a Switchboard using the Switchboard Manager in MS
Access
2000. I have managed to get the table created for the switchboard, however
it hasn't actually created the form.
Hopefully I will have a main switchboard which will in turn lead to three
sub switchboards.
Can anybody tell me how to get the form automatically created from the
Switchboard Table if at all possible?

Hello all,
I'm new to OO design and have a question regarding where I should place some code. Here's a simplified situation:
I'm making an app to do create, submit, and track employee reviews within our organization. Should I have a class called Review, with properties for things like "review date", "employee being reviewed", etc?.. And methods for things like submit(), generateReport(), delete(), etc? I don't really think I *need* an...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
