Switchboard design

I am trying to create a Switchboard using the Switchboard Manager in MS
Access
2000. I have managed to get the table created for the switchboard, however
it hasn't actually created the form.

Hopefully I will have a main switchboard which will in turn lead to three
sub switchboards.

Can anybody tell me how to get the form automatically created from the
Switchboard Table if at all possible?

Cheers

Word of advice, DON'T use the MS switchboard manager, create your own
switchboard using an unbound form adding your own command buttons and code.
You'll have a lot more control of how the switchboard operates and you won't
have that table which the manager creates.

I agree. The Switchboard Manager is a complex solution to a simple problem.
From all the questions, difficulties, and complaints we see here in the
newsgroup, I fear it creates more problems than it solves.

I don't use it... it is easy enough to follow Jeff's advice and use unbound
forms with command buttons.

Hi: I know there are mixed views about the switchboard function, but i would like to consider using it anyway. One snag I have found is that you create a Main Switchboard, and put some headings in it, then insert some switching lines some of which go to lower level boards. The lower level boards pu\ick up the same headings as the main board! I would like to have headings such as: Main menu Client Menu Associates Menu

Hi, I created some forms and during the wizard I chose the Datasheet View, and when I open the forms from the main objects window they open up in datasheet view. But when I created a switchboard which opens the same form it doesnt load them in datasheet, it loads them in other, columnar (me thinks), view. Is there a way to make the switchboard load these forms in a simple datasheet view

I have a query that I'd like to add to my switchboard, but when I use the switchboard manager I only get the option to run a report, a macro or open a form. Is there a way to add a query without making it a macro?

I have a form that is based on a parameter query that needs to be opened in datasheet view. I have set the default view to datasheet and disallowed all other types of views other than design view. When I open the form directly, after entering the appropriate parameters, the form opens up in datasheet view. However, when I access this form through the Switchboard, it always opens the form in Form view rather than Datasheet view. How...

I am in the process of finishing up moderate sized access database application. I am in the process now of building a switchboard to house all the forms and reports. I decided the in built in switchboard manager will not do what I want so I was thinking of just buiding my own form. However, I was wondering is there any prebuilt switchboards or switchboard templates out there? I found one that I like

Hi, Is there a way to have the labels in a MS access database switchboard dynamically generated based on values in a table? I have a table of items (let's call it table Main) , each of which is assigned to a category. The list of categories is stored in a separate linked table (let's call it Categories). The Categories table consists of entries that have an ID number and a name. I have made queries of the Main table where I make the...

I have recently inherited a database. The switchboard (and other forms) displays the name of the database on it (top, center). Currently the name that appears is Reviews. There are plans to roll out the application (i.e. making copies of the database) to other locations (Reviews-NY, Review-Dallas etc). If was mentioned today in passing by the original developer that there is a way to change the title that appears on the switchboard without...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM). In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules. He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms. Adolph will...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
