HI:
Does anyone know a good manual or web site that addresses the development of applications
using the Data Access Capability (HTM) in Access. I need to have something on a web site
that, at minimum, feeds controlled data to an Access data base, and have no idea how to
approach it. One key is that we must ensure that the data fed to the data base is
consistent with some table contents ON the data base. This would typically be a lookup
table, but I am not certain how to even do that on the web!
I need a manual or web site that talks about the whole thing.
Help??

Do you still need help with this? Have you considered ASP pages,
and if so, do you have any experience with them?
As an example of what can be done, go to a site I made for a friend ... http://www.amazecreations.com/survey/Login.asp
Select Admin (all) as the region, Danny Lesandrini as the user and
123456 for a password. This page (and subsequent pages) look up data in
Access tables to create the drop down lists. I even use them in updateable
fields. Click the Edit Tables link and click on Offices for an example.
If this fits your needs, I'll forward the code to you, though I didn't
write it with the idea of anyone looking at it, and comments may be sparce.

I've got a scenario with a web application where I must
access the virtual directory being accessed from within
the Application_OnStart event handler. Specifically, I
have a series of IIS virtual directories which all point
to the same set of ASP pages. However, since each virtual
directory is a separate 'application', each has its own
set data which must be cached. To detect which data must
be cached for each virtual directory, I need to...

Do I get more scalability if I split my database? The way I calculate
things now, I'll be lucky to get 100,000 records in my Access 2003 mdb.
Here some math:
Max mdb/mde size = 2000 x 1024 = 2,048,000k
Let's say on average each record in the database consumes 15k
2,048,000/15 = 136,533 records

Hi all,
I am getting an intermittant error after uploading a project from my
development machine. I click on a link which opens an aspx page that, upon
page load, reads a very small amount of data from an MS Access database,
using ODBC and a stored query. There is no problem on my development
machine. On the production server though, I get the intermittant error shown
below. If I click back and forth between the problem page and the...

Hello everyone,
This is my first attempt at getting help in this manner. Please
forgive me if this is an inappropriate request.
I suddenly find myself in urgent need of instruction on how to
communicate with a MySQL database table on a web server, from inside
of my company's Access-VBA application. I know VBA pretty well but
have never before needed to do this HTTP/XML/MySQL type functions.

Is there a way to find out where an application was created from?
i.e. - work or home
i.e. - if application sits on a (work) server/network, the IT people know the
application is sitting there, but is there a way they can find out if that
application was put there from a CD or email or created at work?
Hint: It's not on a client/server database, just native jet database mdb
created on Access 2003 (default 2000)...

How will Access fair in a year? Two years? .... The new version of
Access seems to service non programmers as a wizard interface to
quickly create databases via a fancy wizard. Furthermore, why would
you even continue to use Access as a backend when you have a much
superior option in SQL express?
What about as a future front-end development tool? Let's get serious.
Microsoft continues to publish numerous articles and videos on how you...

Over the past several years I have had to deal with an increasing number of
problems involving setting up mdac, isams, service packs and the like on
client machines. Often these are not installed, not installed properly, or
not up-to-date. With 60 notebooks, there may be 30 distinct configurations.
Current Visual Studio (2005?) applications require the presence of the .Net
framework.
Has this lessened or increased the frequency of the...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
