you don’t look for XPaths. you create XPaths (yourself) to find something (Nodes mostly).

PS. XPath is the name of that language …

Hi, I'm using ElementTree from effbot (http://effbot.org/zone/element.htm) and I'm having some problems finding nodes that have the same name. I know in XPATH, we can use an index to identify which node we need, but it seems to be invalid syntax if I give "/a/b" to the findall() method. Does anyone know the correct syntax? Any help will be...

Hello, I'm considering using XML to represent a stream of location information, and XPath to do queries against it. I've got most of it figured out (at least on paper), but I can't figure out how to create an XPath statement asking for the "last node with a value less than" a given value. I need this to be able to ask "Where was Scott...

I am having a problem with an Excel ListObject in my C# .NET application. I am trying to map an XML schema to a ListObject, and continue to get the error "The XPath is not valid because either the XPath syntax is incorrect or not supported by Excel." No matter what crazy things I try, I can not either get it to work, or get a different, more...

Hi all, I'm wondering if there is a function that will return the xpath to a specific node given its context node. Essentially, I want the reverse of the document.evaluate functionality. I've seen examples where people build up the xpath themselves by walking the DOM, but I thought there has to be a better way. I've included a simple...

Hello folks, I'm having some performance issues with the client-side part of my application. Basically, it renders a huge HTML table (about 20'000 cells in my testing scenario), without content. Content is "pushed" from the back via some JS, for the only displayed portion of table. Once the user scrolls, JS updates visible cells with data....

Are there any quick, reliable shortcuts to determine if two arbitrary XPath expressions yield result sets that intersect? The obviously way would be to iterate over the set of nodes from one expression, checking each one to see if it's also contained in the other set, but I'm wondering if there might be ways of doing this by looking at or...

Hi I was wondering if we can use Xpath query for finding nodes that ends with a 'string' value entered by the user. For example we can use the following query for finding the nodes that starts with a string XmlNodeList nodeList = xmlDoc.SelectNodes("//Country"); When I tried replacing 'starts -with' with 'ends- with' in the above...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
