Win 7 Dual boot

6 New Member
Can I make my system to have a dual boot both in win7 but one in 64 bit and the other 32 bit?
I think it is possible in XP to have dual boot or n-boot
is that possible in windows 7?

Yes, you should be able to just boot to the CD and run the install. I am not sure if you can still run them on the same partition but I would REALLY recommend against doing that if you are able to.

So you would need to have either multiple partitions on a single hard drive or multiple hard drives.

When you boot to the CD you will be asked where to put it (you may need to choose an Advanced Setup). Just select a different partition or drive from the one you are already using. You can even format and size it from there.

I am trying to dual boot Windows XP x64 on my computer. I recently upgraded my MB and Processor to 64 bit. I have a WD Raptor Drive (72G 10,00 RPM SATA) that I have partitioned into 2 35Gb (approx) partitions. I loaded XP home on one and it ran fine. Then I loaded x64 on the other and I couldn't get XP home to boot even though I saw the...

Ok... I have a Windows PC, and I read about Linux on it. It seemed interesting, so I inserted a hard drive I don't use and installed Ubuntu on that. I liked it, and now I want to set it up so that when I start my PC, I can choose either XP or Ubuntu, but I don't want to lose any of my Windows files. Does anyone know how to do this, or a good...

I had a preloaded XP 32 on SATA HDD from DELL. I added a new SATA HDD to the system to install XP 64. The PC has no floppy drive and when running the OEM x64 CD, no disk drives were found (no SATA drivers - I'm guessing). I put the SATA HDD in a different DELL machine and X64 installed just fine. I then added the x64 HDD to the original PC,...

Hello, I recently had to perform a repair install on WinXP Pro SP2 on a system which is dual boot with Vista Business 32-bit. Since the repair install, the dual boot option menu no longer appears. I assume the repair install overwrote the relevant boot files on the C:\ drive. How can I restore these options? Regards, Rob.

There is a lot of confusion and attempts to resolve the Windows 7 (and Vista) multi-boot issue (some good, some not so good). I'll do my best to clear things up a bit. 1) When you install Windows 7 on a second (SATA in my case) drive from the DVD while running XP (DON'T BOOT FROM THE DVD), the installation will automatically create the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
