Dual Boot with two SATA HDD

I had a preloaded XP 32 on SATA HDD from DELL. I added a new SATA HDD to the
system to install XP 64. The PC has no floppy drive and when running the OEM
x64 CD, no disk drives were found (no SATA drivers - I'm guessing). I put the
SATA HDD in a different DELL machine and X64 installed just fine. I then
added the x64 HDD to the original PC, added the X64 Edition to the boot.ini
file, but when selecting the x64 OS, the XP 32 installs. Can the MBR be
corrected to allow the boot to the x64 HDD? Is there a different way to make
this dual boot work?

Hi,

It is a pity that the Microsoft Communitie pages is leading people to the
wrong newsgroups.

This is a software newsgroup. You are better of to look in a XP newsgroup.

Hi I have a big j2ee appliction that was so forth run on a single cpu machine. I have tested it on a dual cpu machine, its running much slower (about X3 times slower). I know that synchronize code fragments (indirect ones as well, such as the fact that StringBuffer is synchronized) can make code run slower

I am planning to build a server to be used as a SQL Server and web server. Right now I can only use a single box for both. I have read some threads were dual processors are having problems with some parallel queries and the suggestions of having sql server use a single CPU. My budget is limited so I am debating whether to get 2.6G dual xeon 533FSB or dual P4 800FSB (DRR@ ram) or stick with a speedy single cpu. If I get a dual cpu...

Hi, I've been creating a db application using MS Access and MSDE. Only two of us are using the application, and the server and the app both run great on my laptop (1.6 GHz Pentium M, 2GB RAM, W2KPro). Only problem is when I take my laptop home, my coworker loses access to the server. We recently purchased a dedicated server to run the db on at the office. It's a 2.8 GHz Dual Xeon, 2GB RAM, running XPPro. We also bought SQL Server,...

I am trying to dual boot Windows XP x64 on my computer. I recently upgraded my MB and Processor to 64 bit. I have a WD Raptor Drive (72G 10,00 RPM SATA) that I have partitioned into 2 35Gb (approx) partitions. I loaded XP home on one and it ran fine. Then I loaded x64 on the other and I couldn't get XP home to boot even though I saw the files on my D partition. I reloaded XP Home on the D partition and FINALLY got the dual boot option...

Hello, I recently had to perform a repair install on WinXP Pro SP2 on a system which is dual boot with Vista Business 32-bit. Since the repair install, the dual boot option menu no longer appears. I assume the repair install overwrote the relevant boot files on the C:\ drive. How can I restore these options? Regards, Rob.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
