I am working on concept where I want to deliver web-based content and
functionality from a USB Flash drive for users who don't have access to
the Internet. The functionality includes personaliztion features and
preferences that will alter how the pages are served. It is a classic
three-tier model. Does anyone have experience running a database on a
USB flash drive and if so could you tell me:
1. Which database (Access, FoxPro, etc...)...

This might be a pipe dream, but here goes...
I'm writing an application many users will be working on and saving
files to USB flash drives. When they click the save button, I would like
to have the default save path be the flash drive, if one exists. The
best solution I can thing of is to assume the drive will be E:\ and put
that in a Try/Catch to have that be the default path.
Does anyone know of a better solution that this can be...

I know this is probably not the proper newsgroup to ask this question,
but I do not know which one is. And most of you guys here know a lot
about windows programming so I am taking a chance some one here may be
able to answer this simple question.
If I burn a CD/DVD and include a file in the root of the burned disk
called Autorun.inf and the contents of it is:
open=C:\Program Files\myProgram.EXE

I have a couple usb 2.0 flash drives. I use them on either windows 2000 or windows XP. When I copy (drag and drop) a file folder to them such as a file folder with like 10 or 20 pictures in it the file folder will show that it made it to the flash drive. I can open it on the flash drive and the pics are in there. BUT if I properly eject the drive and plug it back in right away or plug it back in later, the file folder is there but it is empty....

<Excerpted from this thread>
All of these questions and answers are great. But it comes down to this I have seen this more than enough times to know better...
From my experience at home and as an IT in an office with well over 900 computers to look after I maybe get this question up to 3 times in a week... sadly
I suspect that if you remove your FLASH drive with out safely disconnecting it the next PC will not recognize it for the soul...

Hey, I have an 8 gb flash drive. ive been using it to transfer all of my music from one computer (linux) to another (windows xp, if it really matters). After all my transfers were completed, i stuck the drive back into my linux computer and deleted all the files and folders. I noticed that only 3.5 gb of space were free, so i looked at the hidden files, and deleted the trash file. i looked at the free space, and it was only at 4.2 gb, with 0...

Can someone help me out on how to let a C Sharp program automatically scan a flash drive or CD as soon as it's entered in your PC? I have created a basic ATM program and what I intend to do basically is let the flash drive or CD act as a credit card. So roughly when my flash drive is inserted the coding should scan the flash and I should be able to access my account and if my friends flash is inserted it should access my friends account.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
