Transfer Email between Mail & Outlook Express

675 Contributor
For years I have transferred my email received on my laptop while traveling to my desktop. I have done this by using a Folder named Transfer. I move all mail I want to transfer to this folder and close Outlook Express. I then copy the file (using Windows File Manager aka Exploring) to my desktop computer.
When I open Outlook Express on the desktop computer, it now has all the email in folder = Transfer, and I can move it to the correct folders as appropriate.

My new laptop has a program called Mail, which saves the email differently.

Is there any way to transfer email between these 2 programs?

Hi, I have a VB.NET windows app that needs to automatically send a simple text email when my users run a new version of the app for the first time. I thought this would be simple, but after days of reading posts and testing, I see it is not - unless I'm missing something? I'm not an email guru. All of my users will be running at least Windows 2000, most on XP sp2. Some of my users will have Outlook, many will be using Outlook...

Is there a way to determine what a user's default email client is? I read a post from 3 years ago that said no. I guess I'm hoping something has come along since then.

In A97, I used sendobject frequently. My default mail application when I was developing in A97 up until July this year was netscape 4.x (yes, i was a dinosaur and I know netscape 4.x was the bug that ate Sheboygan). With my new PC and A2003, I'm using Netscape 7.2 (which other netscape users tell me is much, much better than 4.x with respect to all sorts of things). However, my sendobject coding does not seem to be working with...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
