what are you using to receive/read your mail? Most mail programs will have a default folder to save mail too, you can find this folder in your settings. Perhaps you could clarify, you saved an e-mail by going to tools?save as, but thats all that happends? You don't get a dialog asking you where to save the file? Or is the problem the fact that when you go to tools?save as, under the document type it will only let you select html?

hi, studlyami --

what i am trying to accomplish is to save part of an e-mail, just the message and picture involved. then i put it from documents into a folder labelled keepers.
(it would be lovely to put it directly into keepers, but that's for another time).

first off, i mis-stated. i don't do tools>save as, i go to FILE>save as.

and one of the suggestions you gave me was perfect. if i save it from windows mail, which picks up all of my yahoo, it saves as a document, words and pictures.

but it also saves the entire rest of the page, my favorites column over on the left, the bars up top, etc. i don't want all that extra stuff, since what i am trying to save is the images + the text with each one. or just a letter.

when i try to save it thru yahoo, i'm given my choice of web archive single file.mht; web page complete .htm; web page .html only; and text file .txt.
the default is the web archives, single file.

when i click save, it goes somewhere right? where?

at one time i was able to copy and paste the page into my documents, just the photos and accompanying descriptions. i'd be happy to do that, again. now when i try to copy and paste into microsoft office 2007, it gives me the words only, not the images.

(also would like it if i could pick up the movement of images, if its there in the e-mail, but that might be too much to ask.)

so, i hope all the above is clear, and thank you for helping. sambacat

What mail program are you using? If you are using outlook you can go to tools->options. Then go to the mail setup tab. Under that tab there is a section which says "Data Files"; click on the button with the same name. This will show you where your outlook is saving its files. *NOTE* this was in outlook 2003 and MS changed a lot of things in 2007. Were you able to copy and paste the entire e-mail into Word 2007 or has it never worked with 2007. I believe Word 2007 has a paste special option, try that option and see if that works. If not you can copy the text as before. Then, right click on the picture and save that one separately. Then you can add the picture to the word file. Its an extra step, but that should work.

Hi all I've just started learning about saving files. I got bit of a problem. The following code gives me an error about incompatible types. (Cannot covert from class character to char *). I would appreciate it if anyone could either help me out, or direct me to an online resource site that has information on saving/loading classes. I have found several tutorials, but they either do not really help (saving text files) or are too...

Hi, User can adjust the size of columns of a table or the position of splitter in UI. We want these adjustments to be remembered when we restart the application. Currently, we are saving these adjustments by the user in an XML and saving that XML. We read the XML upon restart and make calls to set the adjustments. This approach becomes difficult as we add more controls and more settings can be made by the user. What other techniques can...

Has anyone had a problem with Access 2003 not saving their coding? I've been using 2003 for a couple of months now and just this week noticed that some coding I'd done for a database was not there anymore. I reentered it and didn't have any problems for a couple of days. Today I entered some coding, saved it, opened another database, and when I opened my original database again, the coding I had entered was missing. Access 2000 always...

I was investigating a function to determine whether daylight saving was being observed on a particular date (given the platform's regional settings) and came across a suggestion at merlyn.com to test the time zone offset on a variety of dates to see if it changes. Based on that, I developed the following checkDST() function which, as far as I can tell, should be sufficient. It checks either the date passed to it or the current date with...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
