I've written a small windows service, and I'm having a problem that I'm
spending a lot more time on than I'd like.
If anyone has experienced this problem and has any hints or solutions; they
would be appreciated.
Simply leaving the threadMain() method if something unexpected occurs during
thread execution leaves the thread in a ThreadState.Running state. This
(apparently??) causes the Thread.Join() in service.OnStop() to hang...

Hi,
We are facing problem accessing to DB2.
Seems like database manager is down
I tried starting it using db2start but it was neither showing any messages
nor returning to command prompt after finishing start. I do not know
actually if it was trying to start database or hanging somewhere

Hi:
I have a table which is indexed on an auto number (supposedly unique for each record). For
reasons I cannot explain, I have started to encounter a problem with duplicate auto
numbers. The numbers went up to 250, and the suddenly the system started to try and
generate numbers starting at 150. Because the auto numbers duplicated, the system now will
accept NO new records!!
Can someone tell me how to fix this, either by giving a new...

I have used this code successfully in a form application.
I tried to add the same code in a service and have not
been able to get the application to start. I have the
service starting with a local account and the Interact
with the Desktop is Checked. Windows media player seems to
start but then closes almost immediately. I would
appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Glenn

Hey all,
Working on revamping our Intranet here and making use of the LDPA, Active
Directory, Directory Services, etc. that .Net provides. I am still fairly
new on this subject, so the problem I have run into I am not sure how to
fix, and really not sure what is causing it.
Here's what is going on (test server - Windows 2003 Server):
I have a page in a folder (under anonymous authentication in IIS6) that has
a link on it that...

Hello All,
I am developing an Input Methop (IM) for PocketPC / Windows Mobile (PPC/WM).
On some
devices the IM will not start. The IM appears in the IM-List but when it is
selected from the list athe result is that the standard (QWERTY) keyboard
appears.
I found that many ( all?) ISV's who make IM's have customers reporting this
problem. My research on the internet brought me to the conclusion it is some

I have a problem with an ASP.NET 2.0 Application.
A client request is processed in parrallel by two threads.
After further analysis, it appears that :
- There is 2 disctinct session for the request (Session_Start in
global.asax)
- One of the session ends (Session_End in global.asax).
- The ramining session is used for subsequent requests, and everything works
fine.
- This is happening primarily when the application is started for the...

I have a .NET 2.0 app that at one point starts an old MFC App through
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start from a model form/
I then wait for it to finish by calling StartedProcess.WaitForExit();
Problem is:
When I close the MFC app if there is an window behind my .NET app it
will come to the front leaving my .NET app at the back.

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
