way below newbie level:
I know nothing about .Net. Have a VB6 client-server application (business
app, inventory, purchasing, invoicing, etc.) and am considering converting
it to VB.Net at a customer's request. The goal is to have access to the
application from remote locations without the need to install anything on
the client.
Question 1:
How will the user's desktop experience change using .Net vs. VB? i.e. will

I am trying to write a script that will access files on another
computer on the network but in a seperate domain. In order to access
the files, I need to first authenticate to the other domain as a
different user.
When I access files on another domain via explorer, it prompts for a
username/password. Is there some way I can pass this same information
through scripting to access a computer in the other domain?
I attempted to do this...

Hi guys,
I have put together a flexible client-side user agent detector (written in
js). I thought that some of you may find it useful. Code is here:
http://fotios.cc/software/ua_detect.htm
The detector requires javascript 1.0 to work. This translates to netscape
2.0 and IE 3.0 (although maybe IE 2.0 also works with it)

I have a user control that is basically a login dialogue.
If I add the user control to webpage1, can I access the
properties directly from C# codebehind, or do I have to
access the properties from HTML behind webpage1.
Thanks in advance. Pete

In the past I always regarded user/group security as fairly tight. It
is tricky to implement, but once implemented properly, it can't be
cracked except through a dedicated effort.
Recently, however, I saw something which greatly lowered my opinion of
user/group security. I sent a secured database to a colleague. I forgot
to send him the workgroup file, but that didn't slow him down at all.
The next day, he sent me the work I had...

Hi,
I'm new to Access and have been asked to develop a simple Access system
to replace one that already exists. There are five users of the
current Access system and each of the users works off a copy of the
system on their local machines.
I would like to develop my new system as a multi-user system and place
it on a server to be accessed remotely by each of the users. I have
read that the locking in MS Access can be hellish. Most...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
