Registry setting to hide/show underlined shortcuts on menus

8,435 Recognized Expert Expert
Hi all.

I've been Googling all over the place trying to find how I can use the registry to change the "Hide Underlined Letters for Keyboard Navigation Until I Press the Alt Key" setting in Windows XP. No luck, so far. Can anyone help?

(I know where to find it in Control Panel, but it's grayed out. If anyone knows how to fix that I'd appreciate it, too.)

Hello, Does anyone know if there is any way to add a condition to your setup project so that the user can choose if they want a desktop shortcut or a program menu by selecting a checkbox. I know that you can use conditions on files, but I can't get it to work with shortcuts. I tried to apply the condition to the folders instead of the shortcuts themselves, but the setup program doesn't seem to care. It just ignores if the checkboxes...

I have a MDI windows forms application that uses a toolbar on the parent form. I've also setup a context menu on this form to be used as the dropdown menu for one of the toolbar buttons. However, the shortcut keys for the context menu do not seem to work for the menus, only clicking on them. Is it possible to use shortcuts this way, or will shortcuts only work with a MainMenu? Thanks in advance, Ben

I'd like to have a button on my form that will show a menu from the user's Programs tree (off the Start button). I want it to be the same menu the user sees when they traverse their own Programs menu. Also, I'd like to know which item the user selects on that (or deeper) menu. Basically I have very deep menus off the Start button and I am looking to provide a few buttons as shortcuts to some of the deeper menus. When they hit the...

A month ago I posted: "I built my application with Access 2003 and made a distribution using the Microsoft Office Access 2003 Developer Extensions. (I also install Jet 8 as a follow-on action at the end of the installation.) I can install the application on my development PC and on a "bare" PC. Regardless of the PC where I install, in the installed application (but not the development version) File->Export from a Report brings up a...

Hello, I need to programmatically take ownership of a registry-key as current user using VB2005. To test this , i created a key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\TestKey and removed all accessrights from this key using RegEdt32. Now i tried to set the accessrights by my programm. Since i do not have rights to this key, i cannot open the key to get a handle for modifying the rights.

Hello, I was hoping someone could help me with a problem I'm having. I've got a C# app that uses several DLL Imports from setupapi.dll and others (Thanks again for the Help on those Willy). One import in particular is SetupDiBuildDriverInfoList(), which builds a list of potential drivers for a piece of hardware. This function uses the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion \DevicePath value key to determine which...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
