I have an MDB file which is secured using a custom MDW file.
I'd like to have most users see only the shortened menu you see when you set
the Startup option "Allow full menus" to False.
But the administrator should be able to see the full menus, plus toolbars.
The shift-bypass key is disabled; too many people know about it.

I've just experienced something of a startling revelation. I thought I had
my application reasonably well secured - I distribute only the MDE, use
password login, have the database window hidden, with no bypass. I control
access to reports through menus, and roles that I've set up in the
application.
Print preview anything. Form, report, anything - the toolbar that appears
has a button on it - Database Window. Sure enough it opens...

I've been able to find some VB 6 samples, but the placeholder option is no
longer available for ToolbarButtons...

I wanted to use md5 authentication method for my pg db. I was initially
using a trust method and I noticed when I switched to md5 I had to assign a
password to the user postgres as it was created without one. Here do I pass
an md5 encrypted string? Also everytime I connect via perl's DBI do I have
to pass it the encrypted string (if so which perl module for md5 encryption
is the best to use?)
