I have AVG free edition virsus protection, I have used others in the past none seem to work. My question is can I use a laptop with a virsus protection to clem my desktop pc because my current protection is not doing its job. Things move from the computer from one place to another example Recycle Bin moved from my desktop to Favorites in the Internet bar I have no idea wher Restore went, this goes on all the time Had IE6 now I don't. I feel this is a virsus issue. Have tried to fix and find problems no such luck HELP HELP

Hi jerry,
Yes do install an antivirus software.
Also do put in a firewall....
A firewall can prevent viruses, and adware/malware/spywares.
If you already have any spywares, the firewall may not remove it, but it will definitely stop it from communicating on the network and calling more malware into you.

another good tried and tested method is to reformat the system and reinstall your OS :)

cheers

To answer your question, no you cannot use a laptop to scan your PC. Your Laptop will not be able to access the Boot Sector nor will it be able to scan in memory. It will also not be able to scan most of the system files or files that are not shared.

However if you were to take out your hard drive and some how plug it into your laptop you might be able to scan it that way.

What do you think is the best operating system for web servers? Linux or Windows? Why do you prefer one over the other? I prefer linux. I think it's because everything else we use in our company is Open Source. It just meshes well with what we do. What about you? Cough* Cough* thescripts is on Linux!

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
