In Tools menu | Folder Options, on the File Types tab, select "Folder" and click Advanced. In there is a list of "Actions". If "explore" is in the list, select it instead of "search" and click the Set Default button. If it is not in the list, click the New... button. Type "explore" into the Action field then Browse... to Window/explorer.exe and click OK. Now select "explore" and click the Set Default button.

"Open .Net Command Window Here" context menu for Windows Explorer: The reg file described below adds a new menu item to Windows Explorer's context menu when you right-click over a folder (or the drive root). The menu item text is "Open .Net Command Window Here". When you click it, it opens a command window positioned at that directory and runs the vsvars32.bat file to set the .Net Framework environment variable settings. This makes it...

I have an Access 2000 mdb file which opens MS Word docs using automation. Our WAN is somewhat slow, and it takes about six seconds to open Word and the specified document (20 KB) from within Access using automation. I also noticed that if I use Shell to open Winword and the document, or if I just enter the document name from a Command window, it also takes 6 seconds. However, if I double-click on the file from Windows Explorer to open Word...

Creating a Windows application: <Double-Button-1> mouse event has a conflict when there is also a binding to the <Button-1> event. It seems like a silly oversight that performing a double click will also initiate the single click action. Has anyone figured out a way to circumvent this problem? Right now I am making the Double click function undo the action my Single click function does, but this is very annoying, especially since the...

After installing Microsoft Office 2007 + desktop search, Windows explorer began to give me all kinds of errors including a DR Watson, which I haven't seen since installing XP. I found a forum some where on the net that suggested uninstalling Desktop search which I did. I'm a newbie using Visual Studio and Vb.Net. The vbscript below opens a Windows Explorer Search Window. The Windows Explorer Search Window has fields in which the user can insert: (i) a search String Filter, and (ii) a search path String. 1. I can't figure out how to convert the vbscript so that it runs as a Visual Basic standalone .exe file. I'd appreciate any help re what code to use, and re which references are needed. 2. I'd like...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
