Sometimes there are too many instances of the internet browser opened on the client's PC. This slows down the connection speed in my local network. How do I limit the number of internet explorer that can run simultaneously such that, when the limit is reached, attempt at opening additional explorer will instead display a window mesage to close one before opening another.

Use TABBED browsing available in Firefox as well as Internet Explorer 7 and look for a plug in or as suggested above find a script.

It doesn't matter, the limit for tcp connections on windows xp is 10 - it like that by default ever since sp2

Other than that, you will need to implement policies and possibly scripts for internet explorer.

Another solution would be to run in kiosk mode. Please see the following article LINK

Also this thread is very similar to the one I saw previously so they will be merged.

Thanks, Cyber.

Most folks know you can start up an instance of Internet Explorer by saying "x=win32com.client.Dispatch('InternetExplorer.Application.1')" and you get a WIN32 object with a "Document" object that has arrays of "Link"/"Form"/"Frame" subobjects, and methods like "Navigate" where you can force the IE instance to browse to a new URL. What folks...

Hello, I am using a HyperLink Web Control to create a new window instance of the same page that contains that control. The problem is that if I am working with both instances at the same time, I cannot execute them at the same time. If I execute one first, when I try to execute the other it remains locked until the other finishes.
