MSSTDFMT.DLL - how to remove it from a VB6 project

Hello all,

I have had a problem with MSSTDFMT.DLL for quite some time now.

If I try to remove this reference in the VB project, it gets put back in immediately after running or compiling the code.

I tried looking for DataFormat throughout my project to see if I had some values assigned to them, but sadly I don't.

Can someone tell me how I can find the piece of code/control that is using the DLL so I can remove it?

I even opened up the VBP project in notepad and removed the reference, but it was put back immedately after.

this DLL is causing errors when people try to install it.. It's not worth the hassle and I wish to remove it. has anyone done this successfully? (I don't remember at what point this reference was added, but I do know I never added it manually)

thanks, any steps in the right direction will be greatly appreciated!

Since you haven't received any other responses yet...

One thing you could try (very carefully) is to rename the DLL, then load your project. This may (or may not) give you an insight into what requires it.
