scrollbar pushing table

1 New Member
Hello,

I have a template design with a (horizontaly) center - alligned table that contains all data. Now most pages on my website are without scrollbar
as the information is presented minimally. However there are two or three pages that will require more space, hence scrolling. I have decided to do without CSS overflow property and let the browser adjust itself with its own scrollbar.

Problems appear when pages with no scrollbar are linked to a page with scrollbar. In those cases the scrollbar pushes my table 20 pixels to the left producing *funny* bouncing of my table and all information within.

How can I compensate for a scrollbar width and "freeze" the table ( preferably with CSS)? will the effect be compatible on popular browsers? There has to be a solution for this...

Thank you and hope to hear soon..

Hi, I have problem with auto-scrolling frames in IE (6.0 on Xp, but same happens with IE 5.5 on Win2k): If I set scrolling="auto" to frame, IE reserves space where vertical scrollbar normally goes and doesn't render contents there when scrollbar is hidden. Here is frameset with left and right frames:

I have a table in a frame with a scrollbar. I want the table to be 100% of the width of the frame excluding the width of the scrollbar. Opera and Netscape leave space for the scrollbar, but IE6 does not when in conforming mode (with a transitional DTD). Is there a way (besides using browser-specific stylesheets) to get all three browsers to...

Hi, before you say it i know frames are bad practice - but i'm developing dynamic content on a site which has already been designed, so alas there's no option but to use them. Anyway, I just want to add simple styling to the scrollbar of the left hand frame of the page, but the styling i've applied isn't working for some reason. The site is at...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
