Microsoft Access Problem - Stopping Macro if After Update Fails

5 New Member
Hi,
This problem has been bugging me for a while. In my form's before update field i have the following code:

Private Sub Form_BeforeUpda te(Cancel As Integer)

If Me.Nominator_na me = "" Or IsNull(Me.Nomin ator_name) Then
MsgBox "Please fill in your name", vbCritical + vbOKOnly + vbDefaultButton 2, "MISSING DATA"
Me.Nominator_na me.SetFocus
DoCmd.CancelEve nt
Exit Sub
End If

If Me.Nominee_name = "" Or IsNull(Me.Nomin ee_name) Then
MsgBox "Please choose an award nominee", vbCritical + vbOKOnly + vbDefaultButton 2, "MISSING DATA"
Me.Nominee_name .SetFocus
DoCmd.CancelEve nt
Exit Sub
End If

If Me.List30 = "" Or IsNull(Me.List3 0) Then
MsgBox "Please choose an award category", vbCritical + vbOKOnly + vbDefaultButton 2, "MISSING DATA"
Me.List30.SetFo cus
DoCmd.CancelEve nt
Exit Sub
End If

End Sub

I also have a macro running on my command button which closes the current form and opens another. When i press the command button and the form has a null field the macro still runs and produces an error message.
How do i get the macro to stop running if the verification fails????!!!!?? ???

Hi, Please look at the code at the bottom of this procedure (UPDATE COVENANT PRINT DATE). When I put it at the tope of this section, it does the update and fails to return the SELECT results. When I put it at the bottom, the SELECT returns results and the UPDATE fails. Can anyone suggest what might be causing my problem? Thanks

Microsoft Hatred, FAQ Xah Lee, 20020518 Question: U.S. Judges are not morons, and quite a few others are not morons. They find MS guilty, so it must be true. Answer: so did the German population thought Jews are morons by heritage, to the point that Jews should be exterminated from earth. Apparently, the entire German population cannot be morons, they must be

I use an Access database to basically take data exports, import them, manipulate the data, and then turn them into exportable reports. I do this using numerous macros, and queries to get the data in the format that I need it in order to create the reports that we use. So far this has proven to be successful for the reports that I am doing and the data that I am pulling into it. I just have one challenge that may require a lot of work and I...

Hi, I've a VB script that creates a Access object in a word doc. Here is the full script. It works for all but the Export. Which always fails with a 3011 error. If I do the same in Access as a straight Macro or script it works. Add it as an object and it won't work. HELP.

Hi all, I wanted to start a thread that might help many of us. I worked for a company for 12 years, until this past Christmas when they let me go. Getting rid of the higher dollar guys, in favor of more profit, was the reasoning. Oh well. Anyhow. I built this companies network from the ground up. Then about 8 years ago, I developed a MS Access 2.0 database. This database, much like others, was supposed to just tiny bits. Over...

Dear NG, Can someone assist me with writing the little code that is needed to run an update table query each time the database is opened? From what I've been able to glean from this group, the Autoexec Macro looks like the way to go. Could someone please assist? Thank you very much! Mike

I have written two windows services: - service A does some crunching of local data files and uploads them to a central processing computer via http. - service B monitors a manifest file on a webserver to see if service A needs to be updated. What service B does if it sees their is an update for service A is to download a new copy of the service A executable, stop service A, replace the executable with the new copy, and start service B...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
