The AllAPI Web Site and the book Dan Appleman's Visual Basic Programmer's Guide to the Win32 API are your best sources. But, you would be more productive if you learned VB.NET and the associated Framework. It has eliminated the need for most API calls. HTH --Sam

From whet I can see, Python documentation is lacking a very important piece of information. Very few functions have documented what exceptions they raise, and under what cicumstances. Is this a task on the schedule? In my opinion, every function that might raise an exception should state so explicitly in the documentation, even uncaught exceptions from a subfunction.

"Michael Geary" <Mike@Geary.com> wrote ... >Does anyone have some sample code where obj$func() would be used? > (Apologies if I missed it.) There have been so many messages about delegation and binding since Greg originally posted his meowing cat message that it's hard to remember what the original problem was that Greg pointed out. At that time Prothon had no solution for the problem. Now there is a released solution but it is...

Hi, All I am reading FAQ of this group. I have a question about this: http://www.eskimo.com/~scs/C-faq/q7.31.html It says: " p = malloc(m * n); memset(p, 0, m * n); The zero fill is all-bits-zero, and does not therefore guarantee useful null pointer values (see section 5 of this list) or floating-point zero values.

Hi, I am writing a program that uses different threads to handle various painting operations, I wondered if somebody could possible tell me if I create a new thread using AfxBeginThread(ThreadFunc, &threadparams, ... and then the various options to create it suspended, and then have it resume. What I want to know is, can the threadparams structure include a CDC * that enables the thread to draw to the window, as long as I use a (single)...

I would like to do some client side stuff whenever my page is posting back. My page has a lot of different buttons and links that will cause a postback. I would rather not have to put something in each of their "onclick" functions. I would rather have a global OnPostback function or something like that. I tried using the form's onsubmit function, but it only gets called when my buttons are clicked; it doesn't get called when a link gets...

Hi. I've never created an ActiveX control before, so I know little about what it is capable of and what its limitations are. My problem is this: I have to create a way to send multiple documents from the web server to a printer on the user's network. The way it works today the user has to manually download each document and send it to his printer, but now they want me to create an automated process. Will I be able to download documents...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
