I am in the process of cleaning up a database that our company uses to
track jobs, time and expense, and customer information.
We are running Windows 2000 Server with approximately 20 terminals
(Each running 2000) logging in each day. Four of these terminals
access the server via Citrix.
Currently the database is about 60MB, but it grows to 150 and larger
each week. I am constantly having to compact it to keep it running
smoothly. ...

hello
i am in the midst of converting all of the "inherited" databases from
access 97 to access 2000. one of the issues i have is the basic one:
dao.recordset. i have read that i need to simply turn off the ADO
reference and change the reference ms dao 3.6 object library to ms dao
3.51 object library or "disambiguate the code". i tried both and i
still receive the error message "run time error 3420 - object invalid
or no longer set."

I did not create the original access 97 file. I do have
administrative rights to the system and can do anything I want to in
97. When I try to convert it to 2000 it says that I do not have
permissions to conver the file. What I have done is create a new 97
access file and copy the queries, tables etc. The problem is that I
am missing out on the menus converting so I really need to get it to
convert without creating a new access 97...

We're trying to convert the last Access 97 database in our department
to Access 2000.
The database is secured, and the problem is that the database owner
hasn't worked for the department for years. So his account has been
gone for a while, and the database no longer has an actual owner.
We have a couple of administrative accounts, and they've been able to
do what was needed to this point, but there are two tables over which
we can't...

Greetings,
The subject says it all. Certain operations that used to run pretty
fast in A97 take noticeably longer after converting a database app to
A2K.
For example, during login process the code checks for existence of two
tables and whether they contain any data. Took 2 seconds, now takes
15-20 seconds. A report based on multiple SQL statements in each
control source took 5 minutes, now takes an hour.

I have a project going on to store data for inventory information. Creating
a database with access makes me realise all things like the data tables and
user interface(forms) and queries are all incorporated to one file. I wish
to split the user interface from the database table itself so that the user
interface can be stored locally on a local computer and the data(tables) is
stored in the server. Is there any way we can do this? Having VB...

I'm converting the backend of an Access 2000 database to SQL Server
2000.
The existing database has user and group security through a specific
workgroup file.
Under the "user and group accounts" there is a button to print the
users and group relationships. As there are only about 50 authorized
users and 6 groups, this has worked.

I'm looking at converting DAO to ADO in my app. All of my DAO connections
are of the following structure:
Dim wsName As DAO.Workspace
Dim dbName As DAO.Database
Dim rsName As DAO.Recordset
Set wsName = DBEngine.Workspaces(0)
Set dbName = wsName.OpenDatabase(CurrentProject.FullName)
Set rsName = dbName.OpenRecordset("SQL Statement")

We currently have Access 2000 and are converting to 2007. I have a very complicated Access application and am so lost with where to start. When I bring the application up, there are different tabs at the top (I see these on the tutorial under office.microsoft.com. They are showing "home" "create" "external data" "database tools" and "datasheet". When I open my application, the only one I see is "help". Why can't I see the other ones? I am...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
