Do a search at the Knowledge Base at support.microso ft.com using the keywords
"upsizing" to review the various white papers on upsizing Access to SQL Server as
well as to ensure you have any updates required.

Also see my Random Thoughts on SQL Server Upsizing from Microsoft Access Tips page at

Hey people, I have to convert MS Access 2000 database into mysql database, the whole thing being part of this project I'm doing for one of my faculty classes. My professor somehow presumed I knew db's and gave me long list of things to do with that particular database, first thing being that particular conversion. Truth is that I don't know...

Hi, I'm converting an Access 2000 database to Sql Server and must be missing something obvious. Using the Import utility in Sql Server, the Access queries seem to get executed and the resultant data imported as tables. Oops! Using the Upsize lizard in Access 2003, the queries aren't even in the selection list of "tables" to upsize. It...

We're trying to convert the last Access 97 database in our department to Access 2000. The database is secured, and the problem is that the database owner hasn't worked for the department for years. So his account has been gone for a while, and the database no longer has an actual owner. We have a couple of administrative accounts, and...

I've upsized an Access 2000 MDB to an ADP and changed the tables from a linked Access Backend to SQL Server. Now I'm told I can't use DAO any more and need to convert to ADO. While I've used ADO in VB6, there I created my connection object and had easy access to it. All I want to know is how do I convert: Dim db as DAO.Database Dim rs...

I have a project going on to store data for inventory information. Creating a database with access makes me realise all things like the data tables and user interface(forms) and queries are all incorporated to one file. I wish to split the user interface from the database table itself so that the user interface can be stored locally on a local...

I'm converting the backend of an Access 2000 database to SQL Server 2000. The existing database has user and group security through a specific workgroup file. Under the "user and group accounts" there is a button to print the users and group relationships. As there are only about 50 authorized users and 6 groups, this has worked.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
