Background Reading

6 New Member
Hi All

I was looking for how to read barcodes in background from a wifi reader
using VB6. my barcode scanner is a wifi reader. When reading, does the
incoming data goes to the COM port? even if there is nothing linked to the
COM port??

Can anyone point me to some tutorials on how to do this ? Also I would like
to learn about the process of reading from a wifi reader ??

I found this thread :
http://www.thescripts. com/forum/thread13369.htm l .
It talks about some tools (BC-Wedge or WinWedge), I was wondering whether this BC-Wedge or WinWedge works with a wifi barcode scanner (Which doesn't have a serial port) ???

I intend to use a VB6 program, that will be executed in my LXE MX7 reader, from a terminal service window.

Many thanks in advance.
Any help is too much appreciated.

If your reader is not connected to the com port it will not send data through the com port. A wifi device will have a n ip address on your network

Many thanks for your reply.

Actually, it does have an IP Address, and that is making me confused, coz I don't really know where the incoming data goes to?? I guess to the keyboard buffer !!!! If so, how to read it with VB6??

Tanks again

You need instructions for the device. Which ip address is it sending data to or is it waiting to be polled?

I have no manual/User guide for the device, that's why I need to figure it out myself.
I want to start with the keyboard buffer : I want to code with VB6 to read what's in the keyboard buffer. Is it possible??

You can't figure it out for yourself. You need to poll the ip address and communicate with the device. Do a google search for the manual

This will give you an idea of how it works

I do communicate with the device. I have access to my servers from this scanner via "Remote Desktop Connection" running on the scanner.
I just need the code to read the keyboard buffer, to test

This is what you need

I'm writing my codes in Textpad, and use Internet Explorer 6 for my browser. Below you will find the two codes I've found. Can anyone tell me why the hell they're not working?! This is driving me insane... moreso!!!!

Hi, my problem: I have some tables with transparent backgrounds, which are changed in colours within a JavaScript DOM function to have a roll-over effect. Now, i can't get them back transparent when leaving the mouse out of the rollover-box - background-color: none; seems not to work. Isn't it possible to do this with CSS?

Hi, My problem seems to be simple but after reading and investigating a little I realize it is quite complex: I have a treeview derived control, and I want this tree view to be shown with a background image. I tried 2 options: 1. Put the tree on a panel, set it to transparent (using the appropriate ControlStyle - ControlStyles.SupportsTransparentBackColor | ControlStyles.UserPaint) and put a background image on the panel. The background...

Hi all, I am trying to figure out a way to read colors with xlrd, but I did not understand the formatting.py module. Basically, I want to sort rows that are red or green. My initial attempt discovered that text:u'test1.txt' (XF:22) text:u'test2.txt' (XF:15) text:u'test3.txt' (XF:15) text:u'test4.txt' (XF:15) text:u'test5.txt' (XF:23)

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
