Hi all,
I've just converted the tables in a big database (approx 27 million
records) from MyISAM to InnoDB. When I was using MyISAM I backed up
the database by stopping MySQL and then copying the MYI, MYD, frm
files in the database directory, and restored the database in the same
way.
Is there a similar way to backup and restore InnoDB tables, or do I
have to use the InnoDB Hot Backup tool?

I want to restore a huge database into my workstation.
The size of the backup file is more than 6 GB and I don't have enough
space on my HD for both the database and the backup file.
So I put the file in a shared folder on a pc connected through a switch
to my pc.
My wkst uses w2k pro sp4, the other PC win xp home SP1. MSDE 2000.
The share is visible and RW for the administrator of my wkst.
The 2 pc are in the same workgroup and are not...

do I take the Dat file and restore data? This news group has been real
helpful-- thanks.

I've a program with VB6 working with SQLServer 2000.
I have a Central Station with the program runnin with full prvileges and
that can perform all the actions on the DB.
There are also some clients that cannot be connected via LAN or internet
that need to use the same DB.
The way I solved this with Aces was to copy the Access file from the Central
Station ot the disconnected clients.
Then to update the central Staton I used to save the...

I have no experience with DB2 as such, but I've been tasked with configuring
backup of a server running DB2 v8 on Windows Server 2003. I do have some
experience with backups in general though. The backup software I'll be using
is Backup Exec 10, but Backup Exec doesn't have a specific agent for DB2, as
it does for SQL and Oracle. The supplier of Backup Exec claims I can use the
Open File option of Backup Exec to backup DB2.
I find this a...

I'm thinking about providing a relatively easy method for users to restore
the front end from a backup. The purpose is to allow for restoring if the
front end becomes corrupt.
Here are some particulars about my app
1) The front end is distributed as a .mde file.
2) Front end uses workgroup security
3) A separate logon form is used to actually launch the front end.
4) My app includes a backup front end form, that backups the front end...

How safe is it to back up a single user mdb when it is opened. No tables are
opened at the time of the backup. The only object that is open is the form
from which the backup code is being run.
Thanks in advance,

On my form I have combo boxes. These combo boxes, after updating
them, populate respective listboxes that are located below the combo
boxes on the same form. I am trying to use a "generate report" button
located on my form to print all of the list box values (that have been
updated via selection from combo boxes) from the form to the report.
I've tried using a macro with the code:
Macro Name: cmdGenerateReport : On Click

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
