automaticly running of a program that was installed by the setup of VB6

1 New Member
Hi,

my problem is:

the VB6 program is developed and the necessary setup was created with the setup Wizzard of VB6.
How can I get, that the program which I have installed is started automatically after execution of the setup.exe?

Maybe the source code of the setup must be changed to this. At which one i have to change the setup-code. How can one debug this?

Can anyone help me????

Cordially yours

hi
you may create a batch-file calling setup.exe first and your newly installed application afterwards

I have an application that runs in the system tray (taskbar notification area) and it runs at startup. Occasionally I need to release a new version. I have created a deployment project in .Net. With the MSI it detects whether a current version is installed and requests that the user uninstalls it prior to installing the new version. Also,...

Hi Cor: You have given a very good suggestion that I can directly reference the "Program Files" Folder. Actually my vb.net program reads/write a notepad file record.txt. For example, the name of my program is MYPROGRAM and I am presuming that it would be installed in the "MYPROGRAM" folder of "Program Files". Therefore I can reference...

On reflection, you could possibly make the app a self extracting zip file which extracts the EXE and a settings file and then starts the app, then when you app closes, it can repack the settings file and itself into the exe. You would probably want a tool for this bit which could be in the zip too. So the app isnt single exe when running but...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
