If I have a machine with 3 virtual IP addresses (192.168.1.), how
can I start 3 instances of the same RMI application (each started with
different properties/configs), each listening on the port 1234, but each
instance binds to a different ip address.
that is to say:
instance #1 binds to 192.168.1.5/port 1234
instance #2 binds to 192.168.1.6/port 1234
instance #3 binds to 192.168.1.7/port 1234

I'm building a relatively simple client-server app. One of the functions of
the client is to notify the server when it terminates, this all works fine.
The problem comes in when the server is stopped before the client, in which
case the client "hangs", waiting to talk to the server.
This is how it works:
Server: Starts listening on a tcp port, say 3000 (by registering a

Hi,
I am making a prototype system with Remoting in the bottom of the system. An
XML Web Service is using the remote object on an IIS to present data.
I am using a TcpChannel for communicating between the XML Web Service and
the host for the remote object. Within the host a port is defined and the
channel registered. It starts listening for requests. The destination port is
therefore clearly defined.
