Need Help Developing Web Application

I'm working on a project that requires a Web client with a graphical
user interface. The client would run in a Web browser. When a user
clicks a button in the client application a message is sent to the
server application which in turn notifies all the other clients as to
which button has been pressed. Should I develop the client
applications as ActiveX EXE, ActiveX DLL, or and ActiveX document? Can
anybody give me some code examples, resources, or URLs that might help
out? How do I go about developing the server side? Thanks.

Hi, I'm about to start building a simple invoicing system for internal use, and am leaning towards using Java in some form. Thing is, there are so many ways it could be done, I'm having a hard time deciding. Should I make a thick Swing-based application talking directly to the db? A server-based app with a thinner Swing gui? Use JSP/Servlets/Struts/Tapestry? Will Java Server Faces do me any good? JSF + NetBeans = RAD GUI-developement...

I have developed an application for pocket pc that requires multiple forms to be open at any one time. The user is able to flick from one to the other, making changes to each as and when necessary The application uses a stacking system to hold instances of the forms, and an array to hold "previous navigation" information (information on this method was found on "http://smartdevices.microsoftdev.com/Learn/Articles/505.aspx") The problem I have...

Hello group, I have several ASP.NET websites using (so far) a console application (from a collection of parameters, this application builds a PDF file through several professional tools in DOS mode). The websites launch the application when appropriate, and we know where the PDF file will be when the console application is finished (that one also create a log file to state if every step went fine, or what errors happened). Here is what...

I am the best c++ programmer in the whole wide world. Trust ME! My reference is Victor Bazarov,Valentin Samko,Alf P.Steinbach( Me and Alf actually intern together at Microsoft), and Bjarne Stroustrup (he actually asked me for help to design C++ ; still unsure why he didn't give me enought credit - probably a poor design choice to have Russian name near c++),Branimir Maksimovic,Vladimir Kouznetsov . Me and Victor went to the same...

Hi, I wrote a DB2 stored procedure in COBOL, and now I need to prepare a CLIST in order to call it. This CLIST would be for people who want to use the stored procedure outside of COBOL or Pl/I. I am not familiar with CLISTS and don't know where to begin. My stored proc has a long input/output parameter list. I don't see anything on CLISTs in the IBM manual. Help! Thanks!

Hi There, I am about to develop a windows application. I was wondering if there is any set of general guidelines I should be following when developing a windows application? Is there a preference of writing SQL queries within the application rather than Stored Procedures? Please help Thanks

Hello, I have 10 years of experience working as a Webmaster. For about an year I worked on a 3-tier ASP application which gave me a good experience with SQL Server (Stored procedures) and COM/COM+ development using VB. I have used ..NET while working as a Webmaster for developing simple interactive forms and but not at all for developing n-tier web or windows application. Since I don’t have a lot of web/windows application...

Hello all, I'm a longtime programmer (embedded with a smattering of desktop stuff as well) who knows very little about web programming. Right now I am developing the prototype of a multi-user application in MSVC++, but I think it would make more sense to redo the app as a web application (which I know almost nothing about, remember). From poking around I see that PHP is a fairly mainstream candidate for me to consider. Now, I will...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
