Who has read Advanced Visual Basic by Matthew Curland

I'm interested in making contact with anyone who has read this and actually
applied the techniques mentioned in the book in production code. I would
like a jump start into this. I'm only interested in hearing from people who
have applied the technqiues and have real examples of their work.
Outstanding examples may lead to an offer for work.

Regards,

Nick Zdunic

Can anyone give me a code fragment in visual basic that will read from a device on my LAN? I looked in several books at B&N and found nothing. I posted this question two days ago and received absolutely no response. This is a visual basic forum and my question is visual basic. Is there maybe something else wrong with my post? Thanks for your time, Bryan

Hi, I'm looking for an advanced concurrency module for python and don't seem to be able to find anything suitable. Does anyone know where I might find one? I know that there is CSP like functionality built into Stackless but i'd like students to be able to use a standard python build. I'm trying to develop distributed / Grid computing modules based on python. The aim is to be able to use barriers for synchronisation and channels for...

I must develop a (C-sharp) winforms application which should display some relatively large (e.g. 2~5 MB JPEG each) photographic images together with a rich set of related information: the application should allow the user to view each image with the 'standard' set of view features such as zooming in/out, panning, scrolling, etc. (of course without annoyances such as flickering and the like), and also offer image-map like functionality: for...

Greetings. I received 4 VB .NET books and looking through the indices and tables of contents, I see that none of them addresses multithreading in VB ..NET. I just bought a bunch of books because they were so cheap. Does anyone have any suggestions for books that cover multithreading? I have enough beginners books. I don't need any more. Need a good treatment of multithreading. I've never used it in VB 6. I want to learn about it...

I'd like to say I have a basic control of the C language. Is there any reccomended reading upon completion of K&R? Are there any projects someone new to C could study/watch over/ and eventually contribute to in order to get a grip on the development process and/or expand their knowledge? Thank you.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
