Hi all!
I would to study a web programming language to create a PHP script
(output.php) that, given the following
input page (input.htm) where the user select the weight and volume of a
package to be shipped, returns the prices of various couriers ("yellow",
"blue" and "black").
Really is PHP my best choice? ASP is much more complicated? and what about
Perl?

I'm curious about something... many Artima.com members who have a Java
background and learned Python have come to the conclusion that Java and
Python are highly complimentary languages. They would never consider
filling the place Java has in their toolbox with Python, but recognize there
are many tasks where it really pays to add Python to the mix.
I want to ask you hard-core c.l.p Pythonistas: Do you use Python for
everything? (and...

I've been utilising C for lots of small and a few medium-sized personal
projects over the course of the past decade, and I've realised lately
just how little progress it's made since then. I've increasingly been
using scripting languages (especially Python and Bourne shell) which
offer the same speed and yet are far more simple and safe to use. I can
no longer understand why anyone would willingly use C to program
anything but the lowest...

I want to spend two minutes on my soapbox.
I love C#. I am so productive in it it's ridiculous. But it's so easy to
write code that uses poor design principles. Example: just making
variables public instead of using properties. Another example: passing
references to forms to other classes so they can modify things (tight
coupling). So in essence, there are so many ways to do things that many of
them are just flat-out poor...

Hi Python folks,
I created a summary PDF of two studies on programming language productivity:
http://barnesc.blogspot.com/2006/05/programming-language-productivity.html
One notes that Python and Perl are the two best languages by the "number of hours to
solve problem" metric.
I ran into these studies when I was learning Common Lisp, and Googled "lisp

The CERT/CC has just deployed a new web site dedicated to developing
secure coding standards for the C programming language, C++, and
eventually other programming language.
We have already developed significant content for the C programming
language that is available at:

I bought this book years ago, when I was just learning C++. Since
then I've gone through every math course offered at my college, taken
courses on coding C & thinking in terms how how to make the smallest
tightest algorithms to preform specific functions. I've also grown
and matured a lot, and am wiser and older. I'm reading through the C+
+ Programming Language, Third Edition now, and I can actually
understand it. I can understand it...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
