I have a database I created in mySQL. I've been entering data every day into the database using a Java application that I wrote. The database and the Java program are on the same Win 98 SE machine. I've been working on another program (an applet) to send and receive data over the internet. I got the applet to connect with the database and receive data. All the while I was developing the applet, I would tell it to find the database at...

HELP - Need to connect to DB2 database on AIX from NT server. Also AS/400 from NT Server -- I am experienced in ORACLE and a novice at DB2. What tools would be the equivalent of Net*8 or SQLNET in ORACLE that would allow me to connect to a database on a remote box (either AIX or AS/400)? I have read that DB2 Connect appears to be the ticket for the Db2 server if it is on AS/400 or OS/390. What if it is on AIX? Does the same tool...

I want to have a connection string stored in my app.config file because I only connect to one database and doesn't make sense to drag and drop a bunch of OleDbDataAdapters (VS .NET) onto the application form. This is sloppy and provides for a headache when hooking the application to a different database if needed. I stored the database connection string in ApplicationName.config (and even tried renaming ApplicationName.exe.config) but...

Hi, I am writing a windows form application (C#) which access's data from an SQL server. The SQL server is using windows authentication only. At the moment I have to grant the domain users access to the database for the application to work. However, the database includes information that I need to hide from the users, currently the application is taking care of that. There is nothing stopping the users from accessing the database in a...

Hi, I am currently trying to get back into ASP and have begun looking at an old webpage I developed some years ago, it was fully functional back in 2002 and I had it up and running with no problems. I have just recently bought a new PC with Windows Vista Home Premium on it and installed IIS. When I try and connect to my data base I get the following error message retunred: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005' ...

The error is: System.Security.SecurityException-Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version 2.0.0.0. Unable to connect to the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
