Re: Refactoring Support: Generate Method Stub

I guess it's possible I'm imagining it, but I thought I heard somewhere that
DevExpress did some kind of deal to get MVPs a free copy of Coderush (Which
includes RefactorPro)

If this info is correct then it's also quite old, but I have this back of
my mind idea that they did some kind of promotional deal.

Can't remember, I'll look into it.

Well what d'ya know... I was right

Mark Miller (Creator of CodeRush etc) just confirmed...

"Yep, all MVPs get full access to everything .NET that we make. Have Seth
contact me and I'll get him hooked up."

That would be MarkMiller[at][DevExpress][Guesswhatgoeshe re][com]

So skip the trial and come play for free with the full version of RefactorPro/Coderush
and everything else :)

Really?

So does CodeRush / RefactorPro include things into the project files
that will cause the other developers to not be able to use it?

Thanks,

Oops... No... sorry didn't mean to imply that. :)

I just meant that you're not going to want to use a copy of studio which
doesn't have CR/RefactorPro installed

It's kind of addictive :)

LOL! - you had me worried for a bit!

I've already decided that I'll have to convince the department manager
to purchase licenses for the other developers. I'm not sure how that
will work out, but I hate being the only person with all the cool
toys!

Oh, and since we're so close to next month I'll go ahead and add you
to July's personal hero list as well :-)

Hey Rory,

Are you sure about this email address:
MarkMiller[at][DevExpress][Guesswhatgoeshe re][com]
I get an undeliverable bounce back when I tried it. I already resent
it to their support email address, but now I'm sorta curious what the
correct email was.

Thanks,

For the benefit of other MVP's who might come across this thread, (I've already
talked to Seth offline) that should have been MarkM not MarkMiller.

Oops... still it'll give the bots hell trying to work out his address :p

Hello together, just a year ago I was searching arround for a tool supporting refactoring for c++. I've seen implementations for java and was impressed how an IDE can help with such a feature. Just rename classes / member / parameter with a mouse click. reduce the size of a method by transforming parts of it into a seperate

Hi, I was trying to find (like many others here) a tool for refactoring C++ code as I have lately been noticing that I spend most of my coding time doing refactoring and some refactoring which I skip, due to the enormous effort it seems to require, usually comes back to me with larger costs. I read a few comp.lang.c++ threads over past few years regarding

Hi, The good old Borland JBuilder has very good support for patterns (GoF) and refactoring. Does such support exsist for VS.NET and C# specifically ? The type of support I'm looking for is to be able to point at a class (either in the editor or the class browser) and apply for instance the Singelton pattern on the class.

I set up a Document-Literal(wrapped) WebService on a Oracle container (J2EE 1.4/JAX-RPC) and made a basic method which I can invoke from a browser or Java client. Java prototype: public org.w3c.dom.Element getIsPrime( org.w3c.dom.Element); My goal is then to be able to access it from .NET client as well for true interoperability. I used MS's wsdl tool to generate the C# stub. The stub works for simple method calls where a string is...

Refactoring by C. Keith Ray Software development on your project has slowed to a crawl. Instead of adding new features, you and your fellow programmers want to rewrite the existing code to make it easy to work with again, which of course frightens product marketing and your boss. How do we get into these messes? What can we do about it? Many books and courses teach principles, rules, and guidelines of good

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
