wsdl tool not able to generate XmlElement as parameter?

I set up a Document-Literal(wrapped ) WebService on a Oracle container
(J2EE 1.4/JAX-RPC) and made a basic method which I can invoke from a
browser or Java client.

Java prototype: public org.w3c.dom.Ele ment getIsPrime( org.w3c.dom.Ele ment);

My goal is then to be able to access it from .NET client as well for
true interoperabilit y. I used MS's wsdl tool to generate the C# stub.

The stub works for simple method calls where a string is supplied as
argument but the beforementioned getIsPrime which supplies an XmlElement
generates an error on the server (NullPointerExc eption). It then came to
my attention that the stub prototype uses object where I would have
assumed XmlElement:

object getIsPrime( object );

Why is this? Is it the wsdl tool which can not generate XmlElement's? (I
thought though that .NET was Document based) or what could possible be
wrong? For references, my wsdl can be found here:
http://www.qqsoft.dk/MyWebService1.xml

Any help or pointers greatly appreciated, thanks,
Casper

Does anyone have an opinion on how IDL and WSDL compare to each other? Are they equally powerful in their "expressive power"? Sometimes it appears to me that IDL is a little easier for humans to follow. Also, it appears to be more compact. Are IDL and WSDL equally powerful in expressing complex data types, and describing inheritance and association relationships? What would be the most compelling reasons to choose one over the other?

Hi, I am trying to hook into Yellow Freight's rating webservice. Below is the wsdl. When i try and create a proxy file with wsdl.exe i get the following errors, see below. Also, when i reference this wsdl in .NET it seems to do it fine, yet there are no objects to reference except RateQuoteBeanService. In the WSDL it looks like there should be getRateQuote, and QUOTEREQUEST, etc.

I've tried to search for an answer to this without much success, and I think it's probably a common thing to do: I have a web service I want to accept an XmlDocument as an argument which conforms to a specific XSD that is defined. Right now when I declare XmlDocument as my argument, it puts the old xml:any type in. How do I change that to reflect the XSD that I'm looking for? Thanks for any Help!

Hi all Feeling a bit frustrated here. Maybe I did not find the correct info yet, that's why I am asking you. I have "developed" a .NET 2.0 WebService and generated (using wsdl.exe) the WSDL for it. The types I am returning from webmethod calls has a superclass (BaseBusinessObject). So MyBusinessObject inherits from BaseBusinessObjects. That gives me two schemas in the <types> section of my wsdl. One for the

Hi, I've been following a number of articles on MSDN which describe a contract first approach to building web services. I have constucted wsdl to define the web service and xsd schemas to represent messages and data types. I have a question regarding how wsdl.exe works regarding the <message> element in my wsdl. I thought that the <part> child elements could have any name of my choice yet this appears to have an impact on the abstract...

Folks, I have to design the WSDL files of a bunch of XML Web Services. But, unfortunately, I am not very keen on writing the WSDL file line by line, and moreover be aware of the whole standard specification in details. I will be very happy if there is a visual tool, which can do this for me. Does anyone know such kind of tool (if it is free, this is going to be awesome)? Thanks in advance. Regards,

I use wsdl.exe to generate client code to call a web service. The actual web service is generated with the BizTalk Web Services Publishing Wizard. I'm not sure this is particular to the BizTalk code but the calls to web methods pass parameters by ref so that I have to call it like: XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument(); doc.LoadXml(message);

I have been asked to allow one of our old-school .asp pages to support being used as a web service. Specifically, WSDL was mentioned. I am not an expert on this , but I have done quite a bit of reading, and I understand that I can create a WSDL file that supports HTTP POST and then use WSDL.exe with the proper parameters to generate a web service proxy. To this point, all I get from WSDL.exe when doing so is "Warning: no classes were...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
