Messenger API and DCOM error on instantiation

Hi,
I don't know if there's anyone who tried referencing and using MSN
messenger API Type Library(COM tab -msmsgs.exe) but it doesn't do
anything on class instantiation and after a while a DCOM registration
error is logged on event log indicating Messenger CLSID.

I try to create an instance using as suggested on some web-docs:
Dim msn As New MessengerAPI.Me ssenger (no error on designer)

...and using any function of this class does NOTHING and returns error
on DCOM in eventlog's system tab.

I'm using VB 2005 express with .NET 2.0 and MSN Messenger 7.5 is
installed (not Windows Live Messenger, my choice). But this API cannot
be instantiated for some-reason.

Is there a Messenger version-based incompatibility or another COM
problem on .NET?

Also tried referencing and using "Interop.Messen gerAPI.dll" with no
luck, same issue.

Note: Current Messenger (7.5) works fine itself.

Thanks!

I need urgent help. Done OK for a newbie getting automation of Windows Messenger into a Winform C# app but have three problems that I urgently need pointers to. Point 1 and 2 are the same issue, I think. Point 3 might relate to a threading issue: 1. I have written a C# Winform application that uses Windows messenger automation. When I attempt to send a file through the window messenger object, there is some horrid screen flicking...

Hi guys, I'm having a bit of a problem getting a VB .NET console app to run happily as a scheduled task. The app itself generates a bunch of word documents on a file share on another server by reading from a template file and inserting text at bookmark locations (with details pulled from a table in the database). I'm running the app under a regular domain account that isn't an administrator on the server. The read/execute permissions are...

I am running windows 2000 with IIS 5.0 and I have ASP and .NET apps running on that server, and I've been getting the error message in my event viewer: DCom got error "Overlapped I/O operation is in progress" and was unable to logon .\IWAM_servername in order to run the server. Followed by another error: The server stop serving requests for application __________ because of the number of out of process component crashes exceeded a...

Whenever I get any error with Vc++7.1/.net/2003, it is followed by huge ammounts of "template assistance" error messaging referencing template code (MTL) that has nothing to do with the error. This makes it difficult to spot errors. For example, F4 to "jump to next error" just jumps ot the next "template assistance" message. And since there are hundreds of them, this is quite obnoxious. Can I disable these things? Why is MSVC...

I'm having a problem porting an ASP solution to ASPX. In the ASP solution I'm accessing a DCOM server, create sub DCOM objects and call functions from VB script on the ASP pages. The DCOM object handles are stored in session variables. This works fine without a problem. Ported it to ASPX, accessing the same DCOM server from code behind pages. Still, usually no problems. However sometimes I'm seeing an error stating that the DCOM handle...

I have a web based (forms based authentication) asp.net application that uses .NET remoting. It has web.config.remoting with all the required settings in it. As soon as it tries to access the website, it threw an error: Access denied attempting to launch a DCOM Server. I don't know where is the right place to ask this so I will start here. Can someone explain to me what these represent? I think they all have to do with the middleware level, but I really don't understand what a DCOM Server is or a Microsoft Transaction Server, etc. I have no idea.... Kyle

I need to re-write an old .ASP application in a C# webservice. No problem, right? Well, I also need to use a DCom object to connect to our SAP system. Unfortunately, I'm unable to make that work. It seems that, even though SAP requires an ADODB.Recordset object passed, the DCom specification says it requires an object. So .Net won't let me use anything but an object while SAP bombs out when it received anything but a Recordset. Here...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
