Visual Studio 2008 not syntax highlighting vbscript ?

OK, this is weird. Just installed VS2008 from MSDN RTM build (this
machine has never had any beta builds on it). When I open a vbscript
file on same machine in VS2005, code-completion and highlighting is in
effect.

In 2008, it treats it just like a dumb file. Had a good google to no
avail. Anyone ?

(ps, couldn't see a dedicated VS or VBSCRIPT group, so the VB group
was next best match :) )

Everyone I have been spending weeks looking on the web for a good tutorial on how to use regular expressions and other methods to satisfy my craving for learning how to do FAST c-style syntax highlighting in C# but I have yet to find anything useful I know there are people at MS that know this stuff like the front of their hand and I know there are many people out on the web that are proficient in doing this as well but it seems nobody...

I know it's a bit like drawing on a cave wall with a charred stick, but I have ASP web applications in production. I use Visual Studio 6 and Windows Server 2000 as a local development platform to maintain and extend them. I was needing to get a new computer, and wondered: Do newer versions of Visual Studio even handle vbscript and plain old ASP anymore? I am not sure if my old Visual Studio 6 would even install on a newer operating...

So, what is the relationship between Visual Studio and Visual Web Developer. I find a lot of documentation on MSDN that presents Visual Web Developer as it's own stand-alone product (which I'd expect of the Express editions), but apparently there are NON Express versions of Visual Web Developer. Is Visual Web Developer only built-in to Visual Studio 2008 Professional? I see "Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008" listed as an installed...

VS 2008 initially didn't debug classic ASP. SP1 fixes this in some ways. You can debug if you select the debug option to "Start Without Debugging, then either attach the debugger manually or place a stop directive in the code which ends up doing the same thing. The problem with this is that you can't debug browser side Javascript in the same debug run. You get a "The breakpoint will not currently be hit. The document is not loaded." if...

I'm not sure if this is an IIS 5.1 issue or ASP.NET issue, or Visual Studio 2008 issue -- thus posting to 3 groups. Please don't be offended. The problem I'm encountering is that Visual Studio closes unexpectedly and without any error message being displayed, or error messages written to the system logs. Visual Studio closes when I attempt to open an ASP.NET Web application (not Web site) solution for which IIS is set as the project's...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
