Good book on VB.NET with example?

SF
Hi,

I have done some coding with Access and I want to try using VB.NET. I am
looking for a good book with examples specially on data access (database).
Could someone in this group recommend?

Does 'Hitchhikers Guide to Visual Studio and SQL Server Best Practice
Architectures and Examples (7th Edition)' use VB.NET platform?

I have found that using MS press books, which there are some for training
that hold both C# and VB.Net examples for certification are good books. The
books are right to the point and with the examples. You should forget that
those books are for certification. Those are training books that give you a
good foundation and basics that you need to know.

http://www.microsoft.com/mspress/books/9982.aspx

There is a set of books for Web based development and then there is a set of
books for Windows desktop development.

Again, forget about those books being used for certification. Those books
will give you the basics, which you can come back to again and again.

Those that seek to become .Net developers carry a lot of baggage that they
need to abandon, if they have been doing non .Net development.

I'm looking for a good schema to use as an example for an object database system. Something like a books/authors/publishers or teachers/students/courses kind of thing. There are plenty of examples of such to be found, especially in the academic literature involving object databases, but most of them are pathetic. It's hard to take a schema seriously when it shows MarriedTeacher inheriting from Teacher, etc. I want something that makes...

I just read the section (and did the exercise) in the C# Step by Step book that covers Explict Interface Implementation (where you specify in the method implementation the specific interface that you are implementing in the class. Other than to resolve the problem that arises when a class implements two interfaces with the same method signature, what good is it?

Hello, I am a seasoned Classic ASP programmer who is interested in learning ASP.NET. I bought a book (Que's Special Edition Using ASP.NET) which is complete rubbish, and would like a recommendation of something better. I have a very basic idea of how ASP.NET works having spent a couple of days playing with it, but it's still a large amount of fog with only a little clarity. I would like something that explains what's going on

I am a newbie and going through "The C programming language" by Kernighan & Richie on my own time (I'm not a programmer but I want to learn because it can save me time in my normal job, and it is kind of fun). As I go through the book, I seek to do all the exercises because they are very useful, and good, but it seems like I am just stumbling through somewhat. In particular, I don't really know how to think about "catching errors", or how...

i see C FAQs are very important part of learning C. whole C FAQs are available as a book (1st edition) in my area at a little cost. is it a good idea to purchase C FAQs book, published in 1996 ? i am asking because my experience says hard-copies are better than online copies but this one was published 10 years ago.

I'm looking to write a C# book fairly soon, and the publisher I've approached wants me to do a bit of market research to find out what people like and don't like in this kind of book. I've read loads of reviews of best-selling books on Amazon, so I've got some ideas from there, but I'd be very interested in hearing what you all think makes a good C# book. I'm interested primarily in stylistic things - how light-hearted, what kind of...

Crockford's JavaScript, The Good Parts (a book review). This shall perhaps be the world's shortest book review (for one of the world's shortests books). I like Douglas Crockford (because I am a crabby old man too; plus he _is_ smart and good).. But, how can he write a book on the good parts of JavaScript and not mention functions that address CSS & DOM? Weird. It's like

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
