Hi there!
We are experiencing a very strange problem with our VB.NET application.
The application is using .NET Framework v1.1.4322 and the problem is
experienced only by Windows XP users.
When our application starts, it retrieves all required core assemblies
from a network path \\SERVER\DIRECTORY\ and copy them locally using standard
System.IO classes. It then load those core assemblies through reflection
and get some other...

Is there a way to recover a lost password in Mysql 4.1. I have seen many
articles and howto's on how to kill the Mysql process and then restart using
skip grant tables option. I am not trying to reset the password but rather
recover it. Resetting the password to something else would cause a problem
some of the underlying programs that rely on MySQL. I don't feel like
changing code for every application that is using MySQL in my site.

I have MS SQL Server 2000 evaluation version on my desktop PC. I have
the SQL Server client tools (only) on the laptop. The two computers are
networked. I had an Access MDB database on my laptop, but I converted
it with the Access upsizing wizard to an Access ADP database with the
Access front-end on the laptop connecting to the SQL Server on the
desktop. Now I want to move from this test environment to the "real"
server. How do I go about...

I am needing to write an application that will be used every month to
automatically run queries on an Oracle database. But the password I need to
log in to the database needs to be changed every month. Is there any way to
change the password through the connection string, or through any other C#
code so I do not have to change it manually every month (since the app is
automated)?

Hi, I've designed several Crystal Reports using the built in wizard.
They point to my database as HQ which is called "Thom". There is a
database called Sales on Thom which all the reports point to and get
their results from.
I'm ready to compile my program to give to the users at a different
site. They have a database server there called "Sidney" which had a
copy of the same "Sales" database on there. Is there a way I can
change the...

Hi folks. I'm trying to change the location of the Access mdb file I
connect to using OleDb and am having trouble. I'm using Visual C# 2005
and the default values I use for the ConnectionString are those
generated by the Server Explorer. I can connect just fine using the
default values.
But when I comment out strDefaultConnectionFile and uncomment the
dbName variable I get:
'OleDbException: Could not use "; file already in use.' ...

Hi !
Here's my problem:
I have actually an asp web site which use the global.asa file to connect to
the database but for security reason, I want to put username and password
information (or the complete connection string) in a seperate file so only a
special user could read these informations.
Is someone knows how to do this ?

Hello. I apologize if this isn't the appropriate group for this question
but I was wondering if it's possible to allow regular windows domain users
to change their passwords through an .asp page? I'm trying to figure out
the best way to handle domain users to log into an .asp application tied
with SQL Server 2000 on the back end since I keep reading that windows
authentication is better practice to log into SQL Server. Thanks in...

Hi,
I am using VB 2005. My application has many data bound controls. The
connection is stored in the app.config file.
I want the application to start with a default connection string and
while during the runtime, the user can click on a button and change the
connection string without exiting the application.
I would really appreciate any sort of help.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
