Ok, first things first: I'm a VB classic programmer and am considering
upgrading now that I've seen VB2005. .NET1 & 1.5 never seemed to appeal to
me, but now I'm considering the 2005. Does anyone have any comments on it
from what you've experianced in the downloadable demo?

Has anyone any experience of the conversion wizard for VB6 to VB2005?
if so how good is it?
also how does it handle database related conversions i.e is ADO converted to
ADO.NET etc.
the project is approx 60 forms with so approx 180 to 240 classes

I use a tableadapter with the sql string = select * fom table where
field=?
I load the desired record in a form and populate textboxes
but after i modify them when i use tableadapter.update it wont save
the changes to the database
i get the error "There is no valid update command"
any ideas?

I have an SP that inserts data into a sqlserver table. If a condition is
not met within the SP after the data has been inserted into the table, the SP
will rollback the insert.
If I were to write the same procedure as inline sql in a VB2005 app
cmd.CommandText = "Insert Into tbl1 Values(' & txt1.Text & ')"

I am thinking of getting VB2005 to replace my VB2003 but don't like the idea
of having two files for one form (I have enough files on my computer as it
is). Is there any way to have VB2005 act like VB2003 and keep the form in

I don't know how to display the form with data from the database, allow the user to update it, and then display the form again with POST data. I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
