I miss VB6 and "classic" ADO ... but I aint going back. There are too many
new tools that make my life easier. I'm sure that was part of the Microsoft
master plan. However, if you like VB.Net, you would probably like C# even
more. The hands, wrists, and bursitis appreciate not having to type as much.

Aaron, aka Master Programmer, aka Larry Linson, aka susiedba, et. al., is

Be careful here, there is a Larry Linson who was/is an MS Access MVP,
and Aaron has been trolling under Larry Linson Jr. Whether or not the
other poster name Larry Linson is just another alias or not I'm not
sure. Also, as far as I can tell, Aaron and Master Programmer are two
different people, though for a while they joined together in .Net
trashing.
As far as the OP goes, given your history many (including myself) are
skeptical at best at your statements. I will however give you the
benefit of the doubt and forgive the previous trolling and welcome you
back into the newsgroup. Just behave this time, I'd hate to have to
plonk you again...
Thanks,
Seth Rowe

so.. c# is the solution to VB.net code verbosity?
I thought that VB6 was.
I am not going to embrace dotnet until the next version; I've been
saying that for several releases now.
I just can't deal with a bloated IDE that crashes on me.
I refuse to do it.

Bruce;
only in your own twisted paranoid universe do I deserve to be
mentioned in the same class as MP.
MP is a genius; he should be Sr Management at Microsoft.
AS SHOULD I.

Without trying to get famous :-) but thinking it would be interesting to
others I decided to post the following summary:

It looks as if the USA may be changing its Summer Time (DST) Rules,
perhaps with immediate effect.
Browsers use the rules selected in the OS, and I predict that in many
cases the rules will not have been updated.
Since time servers send GMT/UTC, the actual civil time of the computer
may be wrong; or, if the user corrects it manually the results of UTC
functions may be wrong.

For retrieving CSS rules that can not be interpreted by an layout
engine I can use the UnknownRule interface of DOM. Unfortunately in
Gecko (Firefox 1.0.5), I cannot access such rules using
document.styleSheets.cssRules because only "known rules" are
referenced. Is there another way to get the UnkownRule(s) in Gecko?
I tried KHTML (Konqueror 3.4), which references all CSS rules including
UnknownRules. Unfortunately, I cannot get the text...

Hi all,
We are considering using XML to specify rules, policies. This XML file
will be used to generate source code in either managed C++ or C#,
which will be implemention of API to be used by different applications
program (written in .NET language, for this dicussion). You can
contribute your ideas.

I try to understand strict aliasing rules that are in the C Standard.
As gcc applies these rules by default, I just want to be sure to
understand fully this issue.
For questions (1), (2) and (3), I think that the answers are all "yes",
but I would be glad to have strong confirmation.
About questions (4), (5) and (6), I really don't know. Please help ! !

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
