I'll start with the basics, I'm using WinXP SP2, VS2005 SP1, VB, and
system.net.mail
Thanks to some pointers from people in this group, I have my email
application up and running.
My supervisor wants me to set up a log file that monitors the dialog
between our IIS SMTP virtual server and the ISP. I have enabled logging on
the properties screen, am using a W3C extended format, and am getting no
logs. I must be missing something. I am looking in the
C:\WINDOWS\syst em32\LogFiles\W 3SVC1, which is the "log file directory". I've
also searched
for the logs, and selected another directory without result.
Any thoughts on why the logs aren't working?
Will these logs get me where I want to go, or is there a better way?

Ok, I've managed to get the logging package to work, sort of. I'm
writing a text parser, where data entry clerks can edit large,
unwieldy and unforgiving textfiles that are VERY SENSITIVE as to where
things are located, ie the decimal place MUST BE 15 spaces after the

Hi,
My question is about the logging module and py2exe. When my code is in
natural python, all of the logging works perfectly. I have two logging
functions, one is a File Handler, the other is a SMTP handler. Once I
build the code using py2exe, the File Handler still works, but the
SMTP does not send any messages.
1. Any thoughts on why this might be happening.
2. Is there any way for the executable to return debugging

While debugging an application that uses foreign database access
libraries, this would be very helpful. One could switch on logging,
perform an activity, switch off logging, and look what has happened.
Otherwise, the server has to be restarted to change logging, which
is a bit annoying......

write to the event log but don't remember the specifics. Was there an issue
with creating a new source?
Can you write if you are using the ASP.NET account or Network Services

Hello.
I'm trying to make a daemon and I want to log to a file its activity.
I'm using logging module with a configuration file for it (loaded via
fileConfig()).
And now I want to read logging config file before daemonize the program
because the file might not be accessible after daemonization. OTOH while
daemonizing I am closing all opened file descriptors - including those
opened for logging.
