Logging SMTP activity

Hi Folks,

I'll start with the basics, I'm using WinXP SP2, VS2005 SP1, VB, and
system.net.mail

Thanks to some pointers from people in this group, I have my email
application up and running.

My supervisor wants me to set up a log file that monitors the dialog
between our IIS SMTP virtual server and the ISP. I have enabled logging on
the properties screen, am using a W3C extended format, and am getting no
logs. I must be missing something. I am looking in the
C:\WINDOWS\syst em32\LogFiles\W 3SVC1, which is the "log file directory". I've
also searched
for the logs, and selected another directory without result.

Any thoughts on why the logs aren't working?

Will these logs get me where I want to go, or is there a better way?
Thanks in advance.

Ok, I've managed to get the logging package to work, sort of. I'm writing a text parser, where data entry clerks can edit large, unwieldy and unforgiving textfiles that are VERY SENSITIVE as to where things are located, ie the decimal place MUST BE 15 spaces after the last word on the line. So I'm writing a backend, and a Microsoft Access guru is writing the gui. Once they edit the files by field, the corrected files are sent to a...

Hi, My question is about the logging module and py2exe. When my code is in natural python, all of the logging works perfectly. I have two logging functions, one is a File Handler, the other is a SMTP handler. Once I build the code using py2exe, the File Handler still works, but the SMTP does not send any messages. 1. Any thoughts on why this might be happening. 2. Is there any way for the executable to return debugging

>Description: It would be nice if general query logging could be switched on and off while the MySQL server is running, and not only at startup time. While debugging an application that uses foreign database access libraries, this would be very helpful. One could switch on logging, perform an activity, switch off logging, and look what has happened. Otherwise, the server has to be restarted to change logging, which is a bit annoying......

Currently we have SQL Server running on a single RAID5 array. The data and the logs are all written to this array. We don't have huge volume of activity, but it is growing. Most activity is from our website that interacts a lot with the database. We have read that it is a good idea to separate the data files from the log files, having each on separate disks (or in the case of RAID, separate arrays). So, we are considering adding a...

Is there a way to prevent one user-account from logging in twice on the same system when using sessions? I also put the session of a user in a mysql database : CREATE TABLE `login_sessions` ( `login_id` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment, `login_session_id` varchar(32) NOT NULL default '', `login_user_id` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL default '0', `login_date` int(14) unsigned NOT NULL default '0',

I'm new to Python, but I've been thrown into coding a pretty complicated regression testing script. I need to email the log of the daily test to the code owners. I thought I could use SMTPHandler for this, but our email system requires authentication. I have not been able to figure out how to log in using SMTPHandler. I found the following post on comp.lang.python: ...

In the past, I remember all kinds of security related issues when trying to write to the event log but don't remember the specifics. Was there an issue with creating a new source? Can you write if you are using the ASP.NET account or Network Services account? Did this change with .NET v2.0 and/or Win 2003 SP1? thanks,

Hello. I'm trying to make a daemon and I want to log to a file its activity. I'm using logging module with a configuration file for it (loaded via fileConfig()). And now I want to read logging config file before daemonize the program because the file might not be accessible after daemonization. OTOH while daemonizing I am closing all opened file descriptors - including those opened for logging.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
