Still having problems with my Web Setup App.
I deleted the registry keys for my installer because it
refused to uninstall when I ran the uninstaller, and
having the previus version on my machine prevented me from
installing a newer version.
Now I'm getting a new error:
"This advertised application will not be installed because
it might be unsafe. Contact your administrator to change

Greetings
Recently I've developed a C# application using an Access database. For
this I use the Data.OleDb namespace.
Now I have customer telling me that he can't use the application. The
application does not work because it has no database.
In theory, if the database does not exists, my application tries to
create it, but it seems that the application can not create the
database... and my client does not have MS Access installed on...

Hi,
I need to build and asp page which access a remote windows server's
registry and create a registry key.
In order for the ASP page to be able to access the registry on the
remote server I need it to run using credentials supplied by the user.
When using basic authentication this is not an issue since the user
has to provide a user name and password.
But I don't want to use basic authentication so I created a login form
and I am using...

I'm trying to get an existing VS.NET project up on my Win2003 server and I
get the following error (on the actual website page):
"It is an error to use a section registered as
allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error
can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application
in IIS."
I've been told by the previous developer that the website needs to be set as
a "application". I...

I've seen a few other postings that looked similar to this, but most appear
to have died without any working solutions, and lacked any helpful level of
information to see if they might be related. I'm thinking this is an
ASP.Net 2.0 bug, but would like to try to elaborate it further. I'm hoping
to see if someone else may be having the same issue.

Hi all
I need to adapt an Msbuild script to compile a visual studio 2005 solution
(including several projects and a website). The application is written in C#
and using .NET 2.0. Due to late changes the application uses unsafe code in
one project. Compiling in VS 2005 is no problem, however the build script
that we used no longer works. Unfortunately i dont not have any experience
in making build scripts using Msbuild. How does one add a...

I am trying to write an application which users will run from intranet
network to determine if some of the software installed or not.
Basically I am getting this information from registry. If software is
not installed, I will either start the appropriate setup.exe or open
the folder containing required setup files to install.
The problem is that I get security exception (SecurityException
System.Security.Permissions.RegistryPermission)...

I am looking for an application that will wrap my .Net application (and any
needed .Net parts) into a single exe.
I know of Thinstall ($4,000 for application and per copy fees for your exes)
and of Xenocode (~$1,500 plus ~ $12 per copy of your exe). But, I'd like
something that is actually affordable for a hobbyist programmer.
This capability (Thinstall's being able to wrap a .Net app and ship it as a
single exe) would be a FANTASTIC...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
