Sorry for the unclear subject line.
I've got to write a download script for and existing file manager (we
are working on a complete redesign for this file manager, but the
functionality of downloading zipped folders is urgently needed).
Files and folders can be set invisible to the normal user.
They are stored on the HD and are referenced in the database like
this:
id | path | visibility | comment | filetype (file/folder)

I have noticed that the meaning of visibility: collapse has been discussed
on different forums, but with no consensus on what it really means.
Besides, implementations differ.
The specification says:
"The 'visibility' property takes the value 'collapse' for row, row group,
column, and column group elements. This value causes the entire row or
column to be removed from the display, and the space normally taken up by
the row or column to...

This posting will express my concern about the future of css3
forthcoming recommendation.
I think for long time now, that the current implementation of CSS
attribute opacity is less than usable in practical real life situations.
The soon forthcoming CSS3 recommendation does not serve the public
interests in this area not at all. The problem relies in the definition
what opacity is, how it is to applied to page elements.
In past 5...

The following function correctly makes everything invisible but then
fails to turn the one chosen DIV back to visible. I imagine I'm
getting the syntax of the variable wrong? I've tried this with both
single quotes and no single quotes, but it doesn't work either way.
What am I doing wrong?
<SCRIPT type='text/javascript'>
function makeVisible(nameOfDiv) {
document.getElementById('weblogs').style.visibility='hidden';

Can anyone tell me why this code works in Netscape 7.1 but not in
IE???
<SCRIPT type='text/javascript'>
function makeVisible(nameOfDiv) {
document.getElementById(nameOfDiv).style.visibility='visible';
document.getElementById(nameOfDiv).style.height='auto';

Access 2000,
My application has a main form that the users interact with. There are
2 hidden fields.
When they select "filter by form" from the menu, the hidden fields
become visble.
Is there a way to prevent this, or to reset them to visible=false?

I have a few questions about "scope" and "visibility," which seem like
two different things.
To me "visibility" of the name of a function or object is the actual
code that can use it in an actual program.
To me "scope" of the name of a function or object are the general rules
for the areas of a program that can through a declaration, have
"visibility."

Hi there!
I've run into a bit of a problem wherein a <div> containing an error message is made invisible by an animation.
I've tried everything to make this <div> reappear on a button click (set the visibility=visible, set the display=block...etc) but nothing seems to be working.
I think the animation is setting a <div>'s opacity to 0. (I can't find out for sure because something magical is done while using the animation in the Ajax.Net...

Expected behavior: Clicking a button dissolves an image (actually dissolves a SPANed region on the page in which an image is displayed). Clicking the button again reverses the effect.
Thanks for any help on this, or maybe another way to accomplish the desired effect of dissolving an image onto or off of a page.
By the way, filters only work in IE (4+), so don't bother trying it in any other browsers.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
