Question re ComboBox event VB.NET

2 New Member
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has come across this:

I'm capturing the event when someone changes a combobox value on a form (using SelectedValueCh anged) as this combo changes all details on form. No problems with that, but as a user can change fields on the form that may need to be saved I want the ability to "Cancel" the selection changed event if the record has not been saved.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Regards,
Jeremy

You don't cancel the event, you handle it. However if the record has not been saved instead of altering all the other controls you reselect the item that was just selected and possibly output a message.

Or at least that's how we would have done it when I was programming for Windows (err, which was 10 years ago so things may have moved on a bit :p)

I'm currently doing a database that uses comboboxes to look up records in other tables, whether they be lookup tables or otherwise. When a user needs to add an item to one of these tables, the user has to either double-click on the combobox or go to the appropriate form via an item on the main menu. So, using an example, if someone is...

I've set Addresses as a Lookup Table - If the user starts typing in the SSN it...

I have a combobox with items like this: {one, two, three}. The selected index is 0, so "one" appears in the combobox text. When the user drops down the list, and selects "two", for example, I modify the Items collection to be {two, one, three} and now want "two" to appear in the combobox text. However, the combobox text is now blank. the is...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
