I've written a simple module which serializes these python types:
IntType, TupleType, StringType, FloatType, LongType, ListType, DictType
It available for perusal here:
http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Cookbook/Python/Recipe/415503
It appears to work faster than pickle, however, the decode process is
much slower (5x) than the encode process. Has anyone got any tips on

Hi, there.
Recently I was working on a problem where we want to save generic
closures in a data structure (a vector). The closure should work for
any data type and any method with pre-defined signature.
When developing this lib, I figured that the
pointer-to-member-function, although seemingly an attractive solution,
does not work well for us.

I'm getting the above error in 1 solution/project for the following
code but the exact same code works fine in other projects. References
are the same. I also get xml serialization error from a web services
in this solution, but the exact same calls and code work in other
soutions. I compared the underlying sln, proj, etc, files, and they
appeared to match among working and this non working solution. Anybody
have any ideas?

I realized today that the Hashtable.Clone only produces a shallow
copy... that makes me go mad that M$ doesn't even provide a deep copy
ctor for the Hashtable class !
mighty tech ducks might reply "oh but what if the types in hastable
don't have copy ctors defined? that could lead to dangerous
situations".
well, but was it a significant effort to provide a copy ctor / deep
clone method to this class for objects that provide the...

Bear with me because we are new to WCF and have been going through
documentation and samples trying to absorb as much as possible in a
short amount of time. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. We
would of course rather start off on the right path instead of learning
later that there's a much better and easier solution, but get stuck
with our original implementation.
We are working on designing a client server solution using WCF...

Hello,
I hope this is the right place to post a question on Boost. If not,
please let me know where I can post this message and I will do so.
I am having a strange problem with std::string as I am trying to read
from a binary archive using Boost serialization. I am new to this, and
it is possible that I have not understood the usage. In the code
below, the string "faultblock" seems to be causing the problem. The
code crashes in the ia...

Hi all,
I've been writing Javascript for quite a while now and have, of late,
been writing quite a lot of AJAX and AJAX-related code.
In the main, my dynamically generated pages are created using Perl on
the backend, with Javascript providing limited frontend functionality.
As an example, an expanding tree would be fully populated on the
server-side and then presented to the browser, with Javascript and CSS
being used to vary the...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
